Factory AUX Input issues

I have an 05 with the factory AUX input in the glovebox. I have the non HK system. Periodically it will just quit working...I'll be driving along listening to music and then nothing. Sometimes it will start working again in several minutes, sometimes a couple hours. AUX option still lights up on the screen but nothing. This has happened just 15 minutes into the drive so don't think it's an overheating issue.

Today it did something a little different...was listening to music and about an hour into it, it just switched to radio on it's own. When I tried to switch back to AUX it wasn't there..only saw CD or FM on the options. Stayed on radio for about another half hour. Tried again, and AUX was there and working. Lasted again about an hour before it disappeared and switched to Radio.

Just very strange. Anyone have anything similar happen? or any ideas?? This has happened on multiple devices too, iPod, and a couple different smart phones.

The aux cutting out is a common problem when the device is also plugged into power (cigarette lighter) at the same time. For example: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...es-05-mcs.html. The remedy is to use a ground loop isolator. Lots of threads on this topic -- do an advanced forum search for "aux" in only the title.

Thanks! I did a search but I guess not detailed enough. I'll check out the link.

Ground loop isolator - easy to install, available at Radio Shack for about $25. End of your problem!!
