Yeah; looks that way... ... ...
I got a response from Garmin C.S. that while quick and courteous, was a rather curt "NO!" you can't do that...
I'm to the point of wanting to hack the unit - perhaps buy one without "lifetime" maps and traffic to void? In the mean time I'll suffer the 4 taps to the gauges routine...

You can add the Guages to the main menu. I'm not sure if you done that but I don't recall having 4 taps to get to it.

Ohh, how do you add them to the main menu? My unit (1390 I think) might not offer that, but I'd love to do it, too.

And I wish I knew more about hacking: I'd love to make the gauges easier to access, and I'd also love to tweak how it calculates the fastest route: for some reason, even when set to find fastest time (not distance), mine seems to prefer streets and never includes time spent at stop lights. I'd bump up the time cost of surface streets a good 20-30% to make it more accurate.

On the nüvi 2460LMT it's under Tools-->Settings-->Main Menu-->Customize. Click one of the green plus symbols and then navigate to what you would like to add and then save your change.

There is a company that makes a stand alone version of this. It is like a scanguage but has analog dials and such. I've seen it here. Does anybody remember the name of it?

old thread update, I just updated my Garmin software, because they recommended it, now it will not hook up to my HD unit, trying everything here, so be warned!

I had the same problem after the latest update and had to re-enter all data for the system to work. After setting the system up once again, I've had NO problems. Its Garmin.......................as you know.

First I unplug and replugged. Just in case ALL the other hoop jumping might be in vain. The I went thru the initial setup procedures as if I was installing the eco route for the first time. (entering mpg.....city, highway......etc) Since then no problems.

Might try and download the update again. Sounds to me that Garmin is looking for something that's not there, as if the program didn't download completely and is missing a part.

Googled Nuvi 1390 and saw that others have had software problems. Just looked quick but didn't see any mention about eco route.

LOL.....................Here's what my wife did.
When my eco route wouldn't reconnect, I went back and put it on the map and drove for a bit. then I pulled over and while the car was in park, tried reconnecting it again and eventually it reconnected. Might try turning it completely off first and then try going into it. Just kinda resets its cache mode i think.

I have the same problem with my 1390 and HD unit. It would not reconnect with the HD unit after the last update. I looks like it finds the unit and then says it is connecting and the unit then shuts off. I tried resetting both the HD and GPS unit, re-installing the last up dates and maps a few times with no results. Talking with Garmin was of no help. I very disappointed with Garmin support. The only reason I bought Garmin was for the HD unit.

Garmin Eco Route experience

Hi to Everyone. Perhaps it is not too late but I´d like to mention my long story with the Garmin Ecoroute HD since it might be useful to you.

I own a Mini S 2012 fully loaded, factory installed JCW exterior kit, afterwards I purchased de JCW Tuning kit, JCW Gauges, JCW illuminated door sills, JCW strut brace and several other original accesories.

Browsing this page a couple of days ago, I discovered the Garmin EcoRoute.

I loved it instantly, so I tried to get one dispite it seemed not to be an easy job. (I live in Argentina). Fortunately, last Friday I found a used one that was in mint condition. The guy who sold the item was very friendly, told me he had tried it before with different cars but not a Mini so he added he´d bring his Garmin and if it didn´t work I could cancel the deal.

I had a Garmin 2597 with bluetooth and the EcoRoute option within its menu. After trying several times it never worked !!. It was always in the process of connecting to the Ecoroute with no result. The seller had brought his Garmin 3790 and it connected to the EcoRoute almost immediately.

At that point I was happy because it effectively was fully compatible with the Mini so I assumed that the problem was only a matter of software update so I kept the EcoRoute and the seller went away.

A bit later, by means of the Garmin Express I updated the GPS software, but It didn´t work either !!!.

Since I´m very stubborn, the same day I called the local Garmin dealer, located close to my home, to have it checked I a visited their store. To my surprise, the guy who attended me tried a new Garmin 2597 (Garmin´s page say it is compatible with the Ecoroute) but never worked either, failed to connect.

Last try: He brought another Garmin GPS, one of the newest models very expensive with built-in camera, hi-definition display and large screen, and guess what ??? he chose the available EcoRoute option but never worked !!!

I was very frustrated, mine Garmin was newer and had a bigger display than the one of the Ecoroute seller so I thought what a solution could be.

Finally I phoned him again and explained what had happened after he left, I insisted I wanted to keep the Ecoroute and see the gauges working, so I asked whether he´d accept to trade in the Garmins and he accepted.

Weird solution, nevertheless I´m happy.

Hope you find this useful.
