Was working on getting my driver side door speaker to work all the time as it had been cutting out for a while. I pulled the speaker and played with the contacts of the speaker connector and the speaker itself. Replaced the speaker and then under testing, the system stopped producing sound. All other functions of the HU appear to be working - mode, station select, etc. but there is NO sound whatsoever. I checked the two fuses shown in Bentley as for the sound system - 15A and 5A and they are fine.

Is there a fuse for the amp somewhere or how do I start troubleshooting the system? Where are the first places to start looking and how?

 

Sadly, odds are your amp is toast.

 

Went back today and checked it again. Everything works fine. Now I'm really curious . . . is the amp going out and this is just the beginning? I guess time will tell.

 

That tends to be the failure mode. Intermittent pops and other sounds have been reported. Time to look for a deal on a used one!
