Probable Amp Death

So from reading the forum threads, it seems likely the amp on my '06 HK system has failed, but there is a symmptom that seems odd.

There is no sound from any speaker under any setting, as expected from a failed unit. The funny thing is trying to tune the radio, the numbers go all around the dial without stopping/tuning in. Is that a symptom of a dead amp also? All fuses good, all wiring apparantly hooked up.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have never heard of that happening in all my thread researches of the HK amp. What happened when sound stopped? Any sounds when it let go?

So putting a cd in, it spins round n round, I can select tracks, but no sound. iPod interface same thing.

Drove home from work one night with music, next time I got in, nada nada nada. No history of static bursts or anything. The only funky thing is the iPod interface wasn't letting me select playlists, but even disconnecting that doesn't change things. Very puzzling.

I'm actually leaning towards the radio on this one because of the lack of tuning. A bad amp won't keep the radio from tuning a station.

Kinda leaning that way myself. <sigh> either way means the hassle of trying to get an aftermarket radio to work with the hk amp, or new amp and deal with funky 2 ohm speakers, etc.

Take a look in the market here. I just bought a MINI radio for 50 USD.
