Security Code For Radio

Okay you MINI Cooper radio guys, here is my question, I have a 2003 MINI base, and the the radio has issues and have a newer unit to install from a 2005 MINI. I keep getting different stories on security code issues. One dealer said plug and play, one said you need to reprogram the entire car. I'm a Coca-Cola Tech and will take care of anyone who gets me thru this problem, AL.

A 2005 radio will be plug-and-play with no security code needed.

Only 2002-2003 radios used a security code.

I don't think my 3/2003 R50 with cassette boost has a security code.
I did get a Radiopass card on delivery, but it just has the model and
serial #. The safety # is blank.
