MidnightBlackCooperS audio build

MidnightBlack was needle in the haystack for a dealer stock Cooper S 4dr manual trans, sport pak, tentacle spokes and center arm rest and nothing else. I am happy with everything about MidnightBlacks build except for no streaming , no xm sirus and very weak sound reproduction.

Planned build same as my old R56fJcw

Audison bit one
Morel tweeters mids and woofer with custom box that will be level with trunk floor
Jl audio digital multi channel amp
Unlock factory streaming code and xm sirus radio

Will sub out the install to a very high rated proshop in the area.

After much research and looking at the install estimate of Usd $6500 plus tax
I have chosen to change build specs for audio.

1x Focal 4" 2-Way Component Kit Dedicated For BMW - IFBMW-S
1x Focal 4" 2-Way Coaxial Speaker Kit Dedicated For BMW - IFBMW-C
2x iBUS 20 - Focal 20cm 8" Super Compact Bass Enclosure / Integrated 150W Amplifier
1x Audison Multi-Function Digital Processor - BIT TEN D
1x Focal Ultra Compact 4-Channel Amplifier - FD4.350

The focal door speakers are plug and play on bmw f20 so should save in labor on wiring the doors. The subs, amp and sound processor will be simple installs with little labor.

Any thoughts or comments on equipment list will be welcome.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the under seat woofers width and depth?

Thinking about running a six channel amp and putting better drivers under the seats. Focal offers a plug and play replacement woofer for bmw.

Focal 8" Flat Subwoofer Dedicated For BMW - IFBMW-SUB

Not 100% positive but i'd guess those would work. From just looking at it it looks exactly like the underseats on my E90 back home.

I just finished upgrading the audio on my black 4 door base and threw in a 10 inch sub with a tiny box in the trunk, and amped the front doors. After that and disabling the active sound design it honestly sounds pretty good and I don't even feel the need to upgrade the mids in the doors. If I didn't have a 4 channel amp from my previous leased tiguan I would've gotten a 6 channel and done the trunk sub and amped the front doors and underseat subs.

Might be worth a shot just amping them and removing ASD before dropping a ton of cash

Looks like I will need to add a 2nd sound processor the Focal dosa 500 rt is a 2.1 system that has a signal output for a amp that is non dsp.

Options

1.drop the dsa and add a audison bit ten dsp plus focal fd 1.350 amp and put a morel or focal sub in the trunk?
2.keep the dsa and add just the focal k2 front doors and A pillars? Cancel all other equipment.
3.keep the dsa add a audison bit ten with focal fd4.350 for underseat subs and front doors/a pillars and power and dsp the rear door mids from the dsa?

Personally I would go with option 1 or look into Mosconi. Either option will make your ears happy. Just try to get it professionally tuned unless you really know what your doing.

Keep us updated! I'm really interested how this turns out as my old car had a full system done by Bing over at simplicity in sound, and this stock HK system doesn't cut it.

Actually, which option would take up the least amount of space and weight? I highly doubt you'd be able to hear the difference in any option unless you plan to enter SQ sound competitions.

After even more research on equipment this is the final list.

http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/lng/e.../pp-82dsp.html

http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/lng/en/director.html

http://www.focal-america.com/product/100-krs/

http://www.jlaudio.com/acp110lg-tw1-...-systems-93332

Audiotec/fischer has been wonderful to work with and quickly answered my question and suggested the proper wiring
harness to integrate with my stock audio.

Now to somehow get a part number for the technicpnp asd harness.

All 8 focal cabin speakers will run active without passive crossovers and dsp/amp has a dsp line out for the powered sub.
Install and video in the next month.

Congrats. That is about as good a system as you can get! So you decided not to do anything with the back speakers? You will find the sound stage is more frontal - which will be a good thing because it will be very clean and present.
Remember the source material is very important when you listen to music try to get flac or the apple version.

running 100 krs replacement woofers in rear, dsp will move stage forward.Wanted to do better on the sub but need the room in the hatch and jlaudio offered the perfect footprint, great quality and price.

Wow, I bet that will sound unbelievable. There's a company that makes/made an entire system for the R56 car complete with speakers, amp, crossovers, wiring harness, and even badges to replace the ones on the grills. I think it was $1300 plus installation which they send you a CD for. The subwoofer was like $500 more. I forget the name of the company but they only make it for Minis and it's totally stealth even the sub in the boot. This sounds way more elaborate and expensive.

Same money +/- as integral audio but no video. if you call the online vendors instead of clickin thru checkout you can get up to 30% off online price. the trick is the get one that sells all of the components.

Helix match dsp amp $575
Focal k2 krs100 $560
Focal krs 100 4 in rear mids $300
Focal sw8 bmw subs $300
jlaudio powered sub $350

Total before install $2085

At the top you quoted a price of $6500. Was that including the install? I wouldn't think the install is $4500. What's your final price come to?

The 1st had over $3000 in door speakers and tweeters and included install, 2nd build was about 2750 before install.

Install for final build is $400 plus a amp wiring kit and technic sub harness and asd harness.

Did get the helix amp/processor in today from helix. Have yet to unbox it but has a small enough footprint it may fit in the secret compartment. The install of the helix director will be very stealth and very oem style looking at modding a Idrive console and placing it where the Idrive controller is mounted or will place below 12v usb aux ports, as far as the Jl audio microsub there is no place to hide but is very small and should not take away too much cargo area.

The plan is to use as much of the oem wiring without cutting and using oem style harnesses to connect the system. The only speaker wires in the build will be wires to pillars.I will need to run power from battery to amp and microsub other than that it should be total Pnp. Maybe 3 hours of labor for install and 45 minutes to tune system.

Could someone please post a photo of a drive console.

What are you doing to mitigate the ASD "Engine Noise" thats pipped in via the audio.

Last i researched if you amplify the system you can also amplify the "engine noise" and you would have to disable the ASD via softoware or purchase some bypass thats sold in the BMW forums.

I am also into audio but the F56 was on a different level than what i am used to dealing with.

Bought a asd defeat harness from Technic pnp. Technic may do the install.
