Abandon ship -- a bit sad

So after years and years of being an Android phone user, I head to the dark side tonight.

After waiting for a year to be able to have album art display when playing music via bluetooth on an Android phone, and listening to my wife say "just get an iPhone" when she is in my car and there is album art displayed when I pair her iPhone, I've had enough.

Thanks to finding a new credit card offer (AT&T Access More card) that credits you back $650 on a phone purchase ($95 annual fee, need to spend $2K in the first 90 days on the card for the $650 credit), I've given into the want/need to have album art display.

I hate Apple.

Wish me luck.

And if I hear that Android ever gets their act together, I'll likely just sell the phone because thankfully even used iPhone's sell for ridiculous money.

Just use a USB stick. $10. Will display all your album artwork....then take your wife to London England for 3 days!

Issue is that I use Spotify, so don't "own" the music. Yes, there are "rippers", but it's too much of a hassle. When I got the car last year, I found some guy in the UK who had some connection and I was able to get two years prepaid of Spotify premium for about $40 US. Still have 11.5 months of prepaid premium service to use.

But I do like the idea of going back to London, and then go to the Oxford plant for a tour.

Expensive
Proprietary system
Can't upgrade memory like an Android phone (256g vs my wifes 16g)
etc.

Personally...
1- Because the "sheeple" used to line up to buy them. People would line up all night!
2 -Almost cult like love people have for them.
They are great products though. Unfortunately it is like VHS and Betamax. The best system never made it to the top. Although integration is way easier with Apple.

That's the point. VHS (the far inferior tape system) won because of JVC flooding the market with cheap players. Most people don't see the difference...they just see a box and a price. Cheaper always wins.

Yes, but we "mini" guys see beyond the simply cheap. Refined and elegant costs more. And,it's worth it!

In the phone game, unlike the video tape market, having most share may not be winning. Apple has just 15% global market share by units but makes 40% of the revenues and takes home 91% of the entire industry's profit! (Samsung takes another 14%, and yes they exceed 100% because nearly everybody else is losing money selling phones.)

How is this relevant to MINIs? Well, being a small volume, high margin brand has worked out fairly well for BMW. Hopefully it'll work out as well for MINI as it's parent company in creating a long term business that will keep making cars for me to buy.

Hmm

I don't get it... what is the first thing you want in your sound system?

Sound, to me anyways.

That it plays, and streams clear, loud, and sounds really good... that is what I look for. If I am driving and enjoying the beat, the fact that the album cover does not work or does work, it is almost a "so what" to me.

For the most part, the phone has the album cover... and for the most part I have the Screen turned off.

But, to each his own I guess...
