Well being that it's a CD player and not a DVD player my thought would be that it won't work.

And just because you haven't gotten a reply in 8 hours doesn't mean you need to bump your thread... Especially in the Nav&Audio forum which isn't that busy

Data DVD's

I'll try it just for laughs, but as a IT guy I can tell you that the drive needs to be a bit more expensive DVD-CD drive, and from the manufacturers point of view I can't imagine them putting the more expensive unit in.

I will test to confirm. I've got a data DVD burned with a slew of MP3's I used to move stuff to a laptop. FYI CD-RW's work too, not just CD-R. (Not DLA burned of course)

My question was based on the following:

If you have not noticed, optical drives are now selling at a rediculously inexpensive price. That being said, the production of regular CD readers is going down dramatically to be replaced by the production of CD/DVD readers. If one can buy a CD/DVD burner for 60$, I am wondering if HU manufacturers would not get CD/DVD readers for CHEAPER.

If that were the case, the HU could have the non-documented functionality of reading MP3 DVD's.

(I am also an IT guy... )

Not a chance if you could get a normal CD drive for say $10.
