Alpine IVA-D310 (and D300) help!

Hi All,

I just picked up an Alpine IVA-D310 multimedia unit in Canada (US/Canada models are the same I think). It's going into an '05 MCS with HK...

The dealer in the store told me lies about two things...

1. the warranty would be available in Australia
2. the DVD region could be changed to 4 (Oz)

both...I have since found out to be not true.

Nevertheless....I have ordered the required fitting bits from Mikey at newministuff (thanks mate!) and am keenly waiting to install it.

In the meantime...does anyone out there know of how I can change the DVD region to either 0 (all regions) or 4 (so I can watch dvd's from Australia) - I'm assuming the IVA-D300 was the same...

Also...for any of you that have installed these units (or some like it), are there any issues regarding the installation or use that I should know about? Those of you that have in-car DVD players that have a seperate 'brain' unit, where did you secure them? - in the cabin, or in the trunk/boot area?

Thanks, in advance, for your help...

My understanding is that the coding is done with the software in the unit. You'll probably have to send it back to Alpine. OR Contact alpine and ask them if an "authorized repair facility" can do the change for you..

Sorry, thats the best I can offer

...thanks mate...

I tried calling the apline number here in Australia, and it puts you through to the closest audio store that installs the stuff....not very helpful....they couldn't help me at all......I need someone from alpine....

I've been told it is in fact in the hardware...and it needs to be chipped.....grr...

I'm calling up the sales guy that sold it to me, and making sure he knows of my unhappiness about this...
