iceLink Plus Install Help
Hi All,
I searched the forums and googled around but couldn't figure this out. I'm sure it's something simple, so hopfully one of you will be able to help.
I bought the iceLink Plus from Best Buy. It says on the box it's compaitble with the MINI Cooper 2005, yet the wiring harness I got is completly different than the one in all the pictures I've seen in all the guides I've found from searching. Perhaps it's supposed to go somewhere else than the back of the sterio, because there's no place it'll fit!
Here's what the plugs look like:
Has anyone seen this before? Where do I plug it in? These are male plugs, and the back of the sterio is completly male too, so I can't find a place to plug it in...
Thanks in advance for the help!

Yep! That version will connect into the CD changer interface cable in the boot. Pull the RH access panel in the boot and you should find the corresponding connectors. If you plan to put your IceLink in the cockpit or glovebox you'll need to route the cable under the right side trim or carpet to get the dock connector end up to the front of the car.

There are some tips in several threads here but most of the pics are no longer available. I actually have the HU version but several of us in the DFW area have the rear connection that Best Buy carries. Look here for tips:

To tuck the cable under the passenger side trim behind the door, you'll need the correct size Torx bit to loosen the seat belt anchor bolt so the trim panel will flex. Just remember to tighten the bolt back up properly when you are finished. Once you get up into the passender side footwell it should be a piece of cake to hide the IceLink wafer and route the docking cable to the glovebox or your console area.

I got it installed and working correctly .
I took lots of pictures during the install and will post them when I get a chance.
For those of you who are trying to get the mp3's to play in order to turn on text-display on the radio unit, but have also found that dension's page hosting the files is down, I've attached a zip file with the mp3's in it. Just take away the ".doc" extension (they wouldn't let me attach a zip file).
I've noticed there's a bit of static. Not horrible static, but definitely noticeable and anoying... anyone know any tricks to get rid of it?

Stole this from another thread:

"Here's the fix..
Hey,
If you're familiar with the basics of those connectors, i.e. how to open/remove/replace the connector pins, you're good then.
First pic is the plug you want, with one red, black, and white wire. Plug is two rows of three pin sockets. Black is currently next to white, you want it next to the red pin.
Flip the cover on the side the black plug is currently on, push down with ball-point pen on small metal plate over current socket for black pin. That's the pin release. Not much slack, but should be no real resistance to removing black pin. Encounter resistance, repeat with the ball-point and try again. Close this side of connector once removed.
Next, open side of connector with red plug, and place black pin in slot next to red plug. Close the plug, re-connect, enjoy!
If that doesn't help, better call Dension. Issue with ground is due to variations in BMW wiring harnesses. Dension is resorting to a ground (black) wire in BOTH locations onl all future harness shipments.
YMMV, but I bet that's all you need to do..
Cheers,
Matthew Z."

I've installed 2 IceLink Pluses in my MINI now, and I can tell you a fast and easy way to accomplish the routing: open a coat-hanger, make a small loop in one end, and attach the HU end of the cable to it. Feed the coat-hanger through the access panel toward the front Then, pry out the interior panel beside the rear seat at its base, find the coat-hanger, and pull it through. Be gentle: you don't want to damage the cable-end.
I don't think I actually removed the seat-belt anchor the second time. I think I just raised the weather-stripping and pushed the cable under it.
A word of caution, though. I've gone through 2 of these things because they tend to over-heat. If you've come out on a hot day and start your car, you may well find yourself without A/C, any interior lighting, sun-roof, or turn-signal sounds. Just open the windows, drive a few blocks in utter misery, and wait for your doors to auto-lock. When they do, the IceLink unit has cooled enough to stop slogging your interior electrical system and everything should work as normal.
I'm sure Dension calls this a "feature", but your best bet is to not place the wafer behind any panels; you want it exposed to circulating air. My current install place is right in front of the floor-vent on the passenger side.
As for the static, you might check that you've got the input level set right. I'm guessing that setting it to 4V is going to sound awful.
