Anyone Got A NEW iPod?

So, has anyone tried hooking up the new iPods? The ones that do video, etc?

I'm wondering if the ICE>Link will handle the newer iPods or what options are out there now.

Anyone have any first hand experience? I currently have the ICE>Link Plus, but I'm getting ready to upgrade my iPod, so I'm wondering if it will work.

Thanks!

Ours works just fine thru the Blitzafe unit we picked up awhile back.

I have the iceLink Plus and tried a friend's iPod video the other day. It seemed to work just fine, and the screen is much brighter and easier to read than my 3G iPod. I use the Dension cradle mounted on the Panavise bracket. The only real issues are that the new iPod has squared off edges on the face of the unit and so the cradle isn't as form-fit as with older iPods. Also the mew iPods are a bit thinner, so, if I had one, I would have to fashion something to sit in the cradle behind the iPod (I think the cradle may even have such a thing - I have a 40GB 3G iPod and so I didn't install it, but I think there was a spacer for thinner iPods).

All-in-all it seemed to work fine.

Cool, thanks for the info. Yeah, I know that the Dension cradle came with some spacers for the thinner iPods. My only concern is that I have the actual Dension cradle, which is narrower than the new iPods (obviously, since the new iPods are wider than the 3G).

Actually, the width of the 3rd gen and the 5th gen are exactly the same. I originally had a 3rd gen, but sold it and bought a black 30 gig Video a few days ago
However i don't have the Dension, i just have an older iPod dock with the audio out connected to my Auxillary in on my factory headunit. I'll post pictures later.

The new iPods are the same width as the previous. They fit in the Dension cradle just fine. They look a little wider because the edges of the face are square rather than rounded. The only issue I could see with the Dension cradle is the thickness and that's easy enough to remedy.

Yeah, mine fit just fine. I bought some of those small rubber spacers (with the glue on the back) and added them to the cradle until the new iPod was just as snug as the old one. I love the new screen, looks so much nicer than the old ones.

Yea, I love the screen. It's almost impossible to read the 3G, especially when driving. The Dension font kinda sucks for that, IMHO.

Awesome, thanks guys. It's kinda funny how they look wider. The main think I was wondering is just if it would work with my current set up or not. I'm glad it will! I can't wait to get it.

They look wider because the front of the iPod is completely flat-- it doesn't curve back around the edges.

I have the new iPod with video and tried connecting it to my friend's Alpine CDA-9855 HU and it worked fine, so I assume that all of the Alpine "iPod Ready" head units will work with the new iPod as well.

I spray painted the dock to match the interior more. It looks way off in the picture but very close to the color in person.

can someone post a link to this ICE>Link Plus installed, pics of the connector that goes into the iPod (so I can figure out how the modify one of the small cup holders to hold the Ipod), with a part number and website? I've been spending quite a bit of time reading all the posts about installing the iPod but I have a hard time finding the above information. Thanks!!!
