Navigation & Audio Infinity Basslink with Harmon Kardon
#1
Anybody install an infinity basslink with the harmon kardon or even with a base system? My friend had one and it really added extra "punch" to his factory system...they are all over ebay at less than $200.00 - just wondering about fit and/or compatability...or how about integrating a regular amp with a sub - is it possible to do so with the HK and how difficult?

I installed a BassLink into a regual Cooper with the factory radio and no HK. I think it sounded great, the bass really travels since it is a non sealed area in the boot. I think that this would be very easy for anyone to do and that the bass is not crazy lound by any means, rather it is a bass fill that you would get from a surround sound system. If you want more bass the basslink isn't what you are looking for. But remember with adding an amp and a box with at least a single 12 you will loose vauled trunk space. Unless you do some trick set-up which equals $$. Gota weight the options, and how you like to lissen to your music.

BTW, the Harman/Kardon web site makes no mention of products for automobiles other than some in-vehicle NAV system.

I have been interested in the BassLink too. It is my understanding that it hooks into the speaker level outputs from the amp (tees off) from up too all four channels and inputs them all into its own little amp. This way you get added bass for all channels, not just the rear or front or worse yet only the lf,or rf,or rr, lr . it has its own adjustments for bass frequency and volume. it turns itself off or on by detecting the power in the speaker outputs from the HK amp.the only wiring you really add is the power to the battery and the ground. the speaker inputs come with pre wired plugs. so all you do is tap into the wire right after the amp and plug into the basslink. Once I get to hear one I will spring for it.
