Blowing the audio fuse during iPod install - Resolved, doh!

I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on what I may have done wrong. I'm installing the Gen2 iPod adapter, which is pretty straightforward. After reconnecting the battery, I can't get the head unit to power on, because I keep blowing fuse F27. I've double-checked the iPod harness wiring, and don't see any obvious shorts or anything. The head unit is half hanging out because I don't want to re-assemble the dash until I'm sure things are working - does the head unit need to be installed to be grounded? Any ideas??

Thanks!

No the HU doesn't need to be fully installed.

Step 1 - remove all you added and test again.

Yeah, I guess that's my only option. I think the problem is most likely in the "C" harness connector that comes with the kit and requires you to pull pins from the main harness at the back of the head unit. I'm thinking I'll cut the harness out and use crimp-on connectors for the three wires that pass through the "C" harness.

In case anyone is following along...it seems to be the IBus that is tripping the fuse. Of the three wires that the iPod interface intercepts in the main "C" connector, only the IBus is showing voltage when the "C" connector is unmated. Anyone know if that sounds right?

Resolved!

Okay, I'm an idiot. GBMINI was essentially spot on. In my haste and excitement at 1AM, I made the simplest possible mistake. On one of the earliest install steps, I reversed the brown and brown/green terminals when inserting them in positions 12 and 15 on the main head unit harness. So the fuse was rightfully doing its job protecting the head unit from my boneheaded wire cross.

A good night's sleep and reviewing every step was the solution. Now I'm glad I saved a couple hundred bucks doing the install myself!

Excellent - and I'm assuming everything works now; luckily most stuff is protected from simple wiring errors.
