???NAV disclaimer screen discard??

Any one know how to remove the NAV disclaimer screen that pops up first and you have to push the button to get rid of it.

Any help appreciated

Hey e-Mini..

The updated Nav software only keeps the message up for about 5-10 seconds, then it automatically goes away! It only works, I believe, on the DVD based systems.. It looks like you have an '05, so you should be cool. I did the upgrade to the original 27 version and the auto hiding message was part of that release. I guess they've fixed a couple things in the .1 version release. It worked on my '06 flawlessly. Here's a link to the thread with the new version.. It also gives you a cool new perspective that's more 3D with a horizon. Pretty cool.. but it doesn't show every street name.. only major streets. Not a big deal for me.. and you can always change your perspective back if you want. Enjoy!

The perspective feature is already there. You first have to enable it in the service screen, then you can select it in map view. Read through this thread. Some of the posts describe how to do it.

I've got 27.1, but the nag screen stays!!!
Maybe its only the hacked (British voice substituted for American voice) version that makes the nag screen disappear. I didn't download that version, as the Australian version of the SatNav system defaults on English voice.
Anyone know how I would get rid of the nag?

My Nav sw version is 4-1/12
Can I just install 27.1 or do I need to install the previous versions first?

WOW that's an old version... yet still the MK4. You're lucky - you have one of the very first DVD-based Nav deployments in a MINI... so you can still use all of the latest updates! According to the X5World Nav FAQ, the very first version for MK4 was 4-1/10, but it was buggy and 4-1/12 was considered a "required" update to fix those problems... so effectively, 4-1/12 was the first "stable" version for the DVD-based Nav systems.

I have never upgraded one with a version that old before, but I expect you can jump straight to 27.1 (i.e. 4-1/71). Try it - if it doesn't like it, I'm sure it will tell you!

This is so good to hear. I was hoping they would get rid of that nag screen. Silly lawyers. On my list of items when I hit the dealer next week. Thanks for the info, NAM!

Most dealers won't do the upgrade for you, because it specifically says in the TSB:
Updating the vehicle at customer request is not covered under warranty.
Which means that if they do the Nav OS upgrade, and something goes wrong, THEY (the dealership itself) have to pay for it.

So you might just want to download the update, burn a CD, and do it yourself. It's actually fun to do, and only takes a few minutes!

Riiiiiight. Of course they wouldn't. Good to know. Well I guess that's next, since I just finished routing the DICE cable. Phew! I had a moment there when there wasn't anything to do!
