Hey Guys,

I hope all is well! Here they are: http://homepage.mac.com/kamatas . There are 77 pictures taken by RON DOYLE at Tweeter in Nashville, TN. He truly did a wonderful job with the install and would HIGHLY Recommend him for any car install simple to super elaborate! I hope you guys in enjoy them! NOW, my next project: I need an ALARM and debating between the MINI Factory Alarm: $300 from the special running on MCO homepage and $170 dealer install for a combined total of $470 or the VIPER 790VX $500 installed: http://www.viper.com/security/viper/viper_responder.asp I would really appreciate any help and advice! Also, I would ENJOY any comments on the MINI factory alarm i.e. does it make a sound when armed and disarmed? Does anyone have any experience with VIPER alarms? Thank you again!

Hi
I've got the MINI OEM dealer installed alarm, and like it!
It does not (or is not set to) make a noise when you set it, it only blinks the lights. I like that as it is a nuissance IMHO to hear all these BLEEP - BLEEPs when people set or disarm their alarm, particularly if they do it right by your house at 3 am!
The MINI alarm secures doors, trunk and bonnet, has a tilt sensor and interior ultrasound. I like the ultrasound as it protects the interior even when the sunroof or windows are open.
The one time the MINI alarm emits a blip, is when you close doors and set alarm, but realize you forgot to close sunroof (or window), and close them with the key in the door lock.
I'd recommedn the MINI alarm, personally.
Cheers,
Markus

i work for circuit city and i am a mobile product speacialist/ installer. I would highly recomend the viper system over the factory. the factory system will not give u any where near as much coverage as the viper. not to mention the 2-way transmitter that comes with 790 is very nice and very helpful with confirming alarm status. the range on the viper is also supposed to about 1500ft which im sure the factory alarm isnt near that far. also the viper systems come with a lifetime guarantee on the system its self along with some coverage if ur car is stolen with the alarm system on it and installed by an authorized dealer.

Very nice install AK430. How does it sound? Have you experienced any of the noise others have from mounting the amp above the battery?

I have the factory alarm and I'm happy with it so far, but if the prices are that close, I would guess the Viper would be better. I paid much less for mine since it was installed as an option, so it wasn't that much of a decision for me.

Here's a thought--If your Mini came without a radio, would you pay almost equal price to have the facotry one installed over a quality aftermarket one?

Whats with the taped steering wheel??And I didn't see the finished product. Did I miss it?? The rest of the pictures look cool. Like the cross over locations and the amp. Is that a JLAudio Stealth Box?? And finally how is the sound??
