Mmmmm i'm agreeing with the Pixies suggestion..... although it will be tempting to go with a fresher selection such as the Hives or Strokes...... in a weird way, some how, Midnight Oil seems like a good candidate as well.

Just burn't my Cooper disk and the lucky winners were:

Who Are You - The Who (what people will be thinking when they see the pure silver/black cooper)
Cross Town Traffic - Jimi H. (for when I'm nipping in and out of traffic)
Day Tripper - The Beatles (For those Long and Winding Roads)
Roadhouse Blues - The doors (for those 2 lane highways)
Car Song - Elastica
Devil In My Car - B52s (hee! hee!)
Going Underground - The Jam (The Paris Metro will be a thing of the past!)
Headlong - Queen (for the open sunroof and breeze blowing)
One - Metallica (This should give the HK audio upgrade a work out)
Selling the Drama - Live
Jeremy - Pearl Jam
20th Century Boy - T.REX
2-4-6-8 Motorway - Tom Robinson (for those 4 laners)
Peaches - Stranglers (pulling up to the Beach)
I Fought the Law - The Clash

I've had my Mini since Sunday and I've yet to pop in a CD... I think the stock system is more than adequate, with great sound quality! I'm trying to pick out a good one. Somehow I think the Clancy Brothers might be in order, however, The Beatles sounds like a good choice, too. Maybe some Clapton? Nah! Me First and the Gimme Gimme's or Blink 182!

well the first cd that graced my dash was Sheryl Crow and friends from central park.........

the one where Keith Richards states "its great to be here... its great to be anywhere".... so true especially driving the mini

but I did want to actually play Supertramp " Take the Long way home".. because I know we all will or have.....

It's definitely going to be a mix disc, all ranges of hip hop, maybe starting off with a little Gang Starr, through Dr. Dre and Snoop into the mix, a few tracks from Biggie, some old skool flava with Run DMC (Tricky without a doubt), maybe NWA, and last but not least, Wu-Tang with the Killa Bees on da Swarm! Music to my ears!

I had to go out and buy it just for the occasion, but mine was the Beatles' "One" album -- a modern reissue of a British classic! What could be more appropriate? (Plus there was the yellow submarine thing going for my yellow Cooper.) I had a great time driving home: windows down, sunroof open, Beatles cranked up, singing along, collecting thumbs up from everyone we passed (three or four thumbs up just on the way home from the dealership!).

I'll probably burn a new CD for the occasion, but I don't see how the first song could be anything but Iggy Pop - "Lust for Life" (I don't care how many ads it's been in; it's still a great song). Then I'll probably throw some Prince, some Pretenders, some Fats Domino, and if it's getting on towards dark, some Chris Isaak and a tune or two from the Twin Peaks soundtrack (my MINI's name will be Special Agent Dale, after all).

Agent !!! why didn't I think of that. Dam, Twinpeaks is my all time favorite TV show. Well you called it first. Maybe I'll just call mine agent, Do you mind? Are you out east or out west? I was even going to take a trip out to North Bend (where TPs was filmed)this summer until I ordered the Cooper.

Great fish think alike.

I'm down in the delta, wainair, so as long as you promise not to order a TN license plate with "DALE" or "SP AGNT" on it, you can call your Cooper whatever you want. (I wonder if I can get the dealership to hook up a toggle switch to a Dictaphone ... "Diane, the locals seem to be approaching me with a combination of awe and envy ...&quot.

Great Opal, thanks. My plates will say WAINAIR, but my Cooper will be Agent. I'm in Ontario Canada so there should be enough gap between our Special Agents!

There is really only one historical CD for cruisin in the U.S.: LA Woman by the Doors. I might consider one Van Halen cut also......Panama.

My favorite artist is Elton John - that narrowed my choices. So when I got my Mini, the first CD was Elton John's 'Made in England'. Seemed appropriate and it has a song called 'Blessed'.
I love the topics discussed on this board, such as naming the car, and first CD. All things I was thinking about as I waited for my Mini, but did not say aloud.
Thanks.

We decided to alternate between J.D. Crowe and the New South (1975 vintage) and Debussy.
