Radiator

1) My 2003 MINI has a very, very small leak in it. My local mechanic is suggesting to put some kind of stop leak in the cooling system to stop it. Any feedback on adding something like this to the cooling system.
2) Thinking about changing the radiator out myself. Took a look at what is involved and it looks like the whole nose of the MINI needs to come off. Has anyone had to change their radiator due to a leak?
Thanks in advance.

Not that I know exactly, but from what I heard:
The radiator is extremely fragile, and even a small impact will end in a leak. Strangely, the AC compressor is very durable and won't leak even when twisted up.
I've also been told not to put anything into it besides bmw coolant.
The "modular front end" needs to be removed to replace the radiator and plenty of other things. I don't think it is that hard, but it sure is a lot of extra work when you need to do it for something other than the radiator.

Thank you

Thank you very much. I may of had my pressure washer on "stream" in stead of more of a "spray" when I washed the radiator. Thay may of caused it. Anyway, I will purchase a Hanes or Bentley book so I can read on how to R and R a radiator.
Once again, Thank you for the reply.

Even if you don't end up repairing yourself, the Bentley manual is well worth having around for the future. I've often had various questions that are quickly answer by consulting it.

A rock or something made it through mt grille and crushed 3 tubes on my radiator, I bought one, replaced it myself (not too bad if you have done any mechanical work before) 2 days later a sheet of plywood was thrown up in front of me on the highway! new bumper cover, hood repair and could havw claimed radiator
