I HATE THIS WEATHER!! All jokes aside, I use to love driving in the snow. No music, just exhaust notes and snow flakes. Peace... Then someone driving an enormous SUV skids through a stop light and HITS ME!
Thats not the best part though... he looks out the window at the damage for a second and uses his 4WD boat to speed away as I was walking over to his truck
my hood and passenger side headlight are toast from what I can tell in the dark, but I'll see what it looks like in the morning and post some pics when I get a chance.
OH OH OH! and I was less than 200' from my garage.. So close I've never been so infuriated in my entire life. but I'm gonna stop typing now because I'm just using this to vent and think out loud. Sorry for the ranting..
I'll keep you updated

That stinks!!! To think I was feeling sorry for myself trying to drive this morning in a loaner 1998 M3, almost impossible, since my mini passenger side window was shattered after some punk stole my GPS unit.
Where I'm from in Texas, a concealed weapon would have revealed itself and resolved the situation with the SUV or at least made a statement.
Hopefully the repairs will be straightforward.

Crash Pics
I wasn't able to get his plate. Everything happened so fast. I'm furious that the accident happened, but I don't think that it could have been any better then it is. It looks like all I'm going to have to replace is the hood and the passenger side headlight. I 'm bringing it to the dealer this week to have them open the hood (because I can't) and put the car on a lift to check out the suspension, but I think that everything else is fine. It's also better that it was an SUV because the bumper wasn't touched at all, which eliminated to possibility of frame damage (I think). Anyways..... PICS!

Sorry...glad you are OK
Sorry to hear about your accident. I had two encounters with the same problem where the other car just ran a way from the accident. Wishing you and your MINI a speedy recovery and I am glad you are OK.
Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and prosperous new year to all!

Always tough to share a bad report of our MINIs.
Sorry that you had to experience what you did - and glad that you, yourself, are ok. I'm sure Fiver will help you out..
On another note, I'm working with someone to try and coordinate the upcoming meet in January. I need to talk with the following people:
PBraun, Fiver, Hovik, and TurboMINI..
if people from northern Connecticut come down, I'm going to find that out too... I'll be talking to FDNYPD (Scott)..
More soon...

A little humorous story of stupidity to lighten the mood in light of Turbomini's recent accident:
The auto window glass repair truck met me at my in-law's house where I was storing my mini during the storm. The passenger window had been broken into and my portable GPS stolen (I had stupidly left it in the car). Anyway, the repair guy showed up with the wrong glass and rescheduled me for a few days. Furious, I ended up getting them to agree to fix it it I drive to their repair shop.
I pulled out of the garage. I didn't have a remote garage opener so I stopped the car to get out to close the garage. I had left the car in drive. I've never done anything like this in my life. The car started down the driveway with me halfway out. I jumped back in and hit the brakes to late. The car ran into pilled up ice and snow on the side. It knocked my left lower bumper and black trim out of place.
This made my 45 minute drive with a broken left passenger window to the repair shop all the more enjoyable. Ironically, another customer was there getting his window fixed since his portable GPS was stolen as well.
Anyway, one stupid action, leaving my GPS visible, led to a nice chain of events. Stuff really rolls downhill. Thanks for bearing with my venting.

I'm in the city getting estimates today, so we'll see what happens. I brought it to MOM this morning to see what I would need as far as parts go, and also to see if there is any damage that a trained eye could see.
Preliminarily, I'm going to need a hood, passenger side headlight, one hood strut and and at least one hinge. I'm going to get an alignment and have the car put on a frame jig becuase the strut town has a dent in it

Good to hear It looks like a straight forward repair. I'm sure most of the parts on the bonnet save for the passenger side headlight will be transfered to the new bonnet. Is the shop planning to paint only the new bonnet or are they blending it into the surrounding bodywork?
The clear bra is a good idea. I'm just surprised it can be installed during this time of the year. Are they gonna install it indoors?

Just a heads up for you NY'ers, we're doing a New Years Eve Eve Eve (we usually do NYE Eve, so we are actually in times square on NYE, at like 12 am on the 31st, but this year that falls on a Sunday night so we opted for the night before), on Dec 29. You can find run info here:
http://nemini.org/index.php?topic=91...2801#msg182801
We'll probably be meeting around 9pm.
