Not surprising. Most people are clueless as to what gets done with their car. I have a hard time taking my cars to the dealer much less Jiffy Lube.

Agreed, I have seen that video before and it digusts me. Of course there are people like that in all forms of business, automobiles just happen to be such a huge and expensive part of our society. I will NEVER take my car to a chain place, whether it be a lube through or otherwise. I just don't trust chains because of the lower standards they allow thier workers to conform too. I have a local mechanic for when I cannot do my own work and that is the best way to do it, find a local place that comes with recomendations and have a good reputation.

There were stories like this on 20/20 or 60 minutes or something

As they say "You know its going to be a bad day when 60 Minutes is waiting in your office"

Wow unscrupulous people are everywhere. Consumer/Buyer beware. I use the dealership, do my own work, or go to "referral" places (body shop/paint) from other MINI owners. But in the end, I have a pretty healthy level of paranoia.

I "pre-inspected" my MINI before taking it in for it's 10K service this morning. I then confirmed with my SA what was going to be done. When it was finished, I re-confirmed with him what they had done. And once I got it home, I re-inspected it myself.

It's really the only way to be sure. Sad, but true.

I think Sears got caught a while back doing this stuff too. I won't go to a chain. I asked around found what I hope to be a quality mechanic. Still going to check up on anyhting I ask him to do.

This is terrible that a chain the size of JL would pull crap like this.

It is tough enough to trust , now you see this going on.

Thanks for sharing this.:impatient
