This is great. Brings back memories. My mom taught me to drive when I was 11. Could barely see over the steering wheel. Still have this problem in some cars.
Parents' cars that they let me drive till I got my first set of wheels:
1942 Ford coupe
1946 Chevy coupe
1948 Ford pickup
1954 Ford Fairlane
19?? Chevy Carryall Van
My cars:
1958 Olds Super 88 (had more chrome than you could shake a stick at & had the gas filler neck inside the LH taillight) Loved it. It was a beast & gas was cheap
1967 Firebird convertible (bought it new for $2800 and sold it 16 years later for $4000)
1982 Olds Cutlass (OMG I hated it; it would do donuts when braking on slightly wet streets)
1988 Toyota Corolla GTS (loved it; it was totally destroyed in the 1995 hail storm in Fort Worth)
1995 Volvo 850 Wagon (so uncool, but a great car; just sold it to an older gentleman who is almost as happy with it as I am with the Mini) **
2006 MiniCooperS
** I have to tell you that I almost lost this sale. I bought a bunch of stuff recommended on Detailing 101 and tested it on the Volvo. This fellow was so impressed how the Volvo looked (even though I refused to Clay Bar it) till I took him for a ride in the Mini. He was so cute. He said, "Damn, you really can drive a 6 speed. I've changed my mind. I don't want the Volvo anymore, I want a Mini like yours!" He had such a smile of pure pleasure on his face.

ok my list is also pretty short....but i like to think that is a good thing. I tend to hang on to vehicles.
1. 1969 Plymouth Valiant business coupe
2. 1992 F-150 regular cab
3. 1999 F-150 Extended cab
4. 2002 Mini Cooper silver/black with sport package (Current, and for a long time future car)
Like i said, a short list. I like to think all the other vehicles were a warm up to the mini lol.

1. I bought a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle after my second year at UT, during the summer of 72, for $350. From the perspective of 34 years later, this was one of my favorite cars. I sold it to a pretty girl with red hair for $400.
2. I was looking for a pick-up and saw this 1957 Chevrolet ½ ton pick-up at an auto shop. It attracted me (in spite of the fact that there was a lot of bare metal showing) because it had the bill over the windshield, a huge, beefy “headache rack”, and an equally beefy rear bumper custom-fabricated from checkerplate (not to mention the pair of chrome rockets on the hood). Of course, I imagined what it could look like. I paid $595 for it. It had a straight six and a three-speed manual. There was a starter button on the floor which you pushed after turning the key. It even had a hand throttle, but I never got it unfrozen. I put a new engine in it and sand-blasted and painted the body. The painting was not very successful, and was beginning to peel a little when I sold it to a lady in the lawn-care business for $900.
3. By the time I got the next car (probably about 1981), I was married. It was a 1976 cinnamon-red Chevette hatchback. It was in very good condition. I don’t remember what we bought it for or what we sold it for, but the buyer was a female truck driver.
4. When I sold #2, we bought a 1979 Ford F-100, dark-green, 6-cyl., standard, long-bed pick-up, my first new car. I loved it and drove it until about 1988, when it rolled into the bayou. I parked under the Lacombe house at the time, and had gotten in and started it, when I remembered something I forgot upstairs. I went up to get it, leaving the truck running. While I was upstairs, I heard a huge crash, and knew immediately what it was. Sure enough, I looked out the window and saw it floating out into the bayou. Insurance company totalled it, but after 9 years, it wasn’t worth much to them.
5. With the meager proceeds from #4, I bought a metallic blue Toyota Tercel hatchback. It was a nice little car, not sure what year, 1981, I think - it was the one with the all-glass rear hatch. It had been poorly taken care of cosmetically - the paint and interior were badly faded, so I got it repainted. I sold it in 1990.
6. When I sold the Tercel, I bought the second new car, a maroon 1990 Toyota Extended cab pick-up, which I drove for 15 years and 252,000 miles. It had a four cyl., and a manual transmission. I paid about $12,800 for it. The transmission finally gave out, and I traded it in (for $500, which I was happy to get) on Sherry’s Sienna van.
7. My next car was Sherry’s 4-year-old white 2000 Honda CRV. This was my first car with leather and I liked that, even if it was black. I drove it until May of 2006, when I sold it for $9,000.
8. After the Honda sold, I bought a 2006 Mini Cooper S, British racing green convertible, with a black top and a tan leather interior.
Apologies if this is too long, but it was already written & I just pasted.
