that's a challenge i do believe

'62 MG Midget (from a basket)
'66 Mustang (from Mobile, AL)
'56 Jaguar XK150 (don't ask - it breaks my heart still! WHAT a car!)
'69 Rover TC
'67 Alfa Guietta (never fully assembled)
'74 Spitfire (a bank will write a loan to a young serviceman - the first new one!)

then bikes

'77 Yamaha XS 500
'79 Honda 550F
'80 Suzuki GS1000 (Melbourne Australia - the Great Ocean Road!)
'82 Honda CB1000F
'88 BMW K75S (San Francisco - the Sunday Morning Pt. Reyes ride!)

then back to cars (my son was a year old, and i started feeling mortal again)

'92 Subaru Justy (3 cylinders and 4 wheel drive - still wondering about that)
'97 Neon Twin Cam
'04 Cooper S Works

frankly the MCS is a very tough act to follow, so I'm in for the long haul on that one!

a lot of memories in that list...

How's this for boring?

Me:

'88 VW Golf (great third gear, got 13 people in it when cops showed up at a collee party); got run off road, totaled
'90 Civic SI (too much torque, but fine enough...); sold at 110k
'99 RAV4 L (good for hauling surfboards, but low power, ok torque); sold at 118K
'08 MCS JCW!

The much better half

'84 CRX (which she loved); sold at 130K
'94 Del Sol (also she loved, peppy, fun); sold at 110K -- it was really starting to come apart
'04 Scion XB (which she loves, even though it's the first automatic)

But... she's very jealous of the MCS so has her eye on a Clubman!

1986 Porsche 944 - First car (and I paid for it myself!). Only regret- crashing it into a stop sign going sideways at about 70 mph... yes I was young(er) and stupid(er) Oh, and I also regret it not being the turbo...

1991 BMW 318I - Sweet car. Tight chassis, but just not enough power.

1988 Audi 90 Quattro - What a piece of junk. Paid 500 bucks for it, and although the motor seized, it started my love affair with 4wd.

1995 Audi 90 Quattro - Had to go back for more. Crashed that car into one of my best friends car when the brakes died. That was not fun.

1994 Audi 90 Quattro - The 3rd and last one. The drifting in the car... beautifullll. Sold her for the MINI!

Mmm... German cars. It's all I really see myself owning. The MINI works because of it's now mixed heritage!

1966 MGB (totally restored it and then totaled it)
1974 Vega GT (the most reliable one they ever built ...it went 150K miles)
1977 Capri V6
1975 Volkswagen Rabbit
1974 Mustang II (this made the Vega seem like a Ferrari)
1982 Civic S (my first new car)
1987 Integra
1990 Accord
1999 Accord V6 (still have, now my daughters car)
2006 MCS

Not many cars considering I've been driving for 33 years. I put a lot of miles on them.

Dean.

Fun list... I'm going to have trouble remembering some from my years in my late teens in the 70s ... too many burnt braincells

Coming:
DS/DS or DS/B '08 or '09 Mini R56S.

Current: First new car, '98 MB C43 AMG: 5.4L engine from a crashed '01 E55 AMG, Penske 8100 Racing dampers and custom adjustable spring perches, all adjustable rear links and no rubber bushings, full MBenzNL treatment, more... dang proud of this car w/its power-2-weight ratio and handling is insane. Still, I don't know if I'll keep this. Wish buyers who want a mod'ed car were willing to pay for it...First $25K takes it.

Current: '88 MB 560SL: quite stock; wife's car.

Current: '97 Jeep Wrangler: headers, exhaust, intake, piggy-back ECU, Accel ignition, killer stereo, other stuff; foul weather car but will be going when the Mini arrives as my daily driver.

A few years ago: 2001 MB SLK320 w/6-sp. Wish I didn't lease this and started w/a purchase. Buying the lease out was about $10K too high above if I'd started w/financing however.

In the mid 90's: Cadi Seville passed down from the wife's Grandpa ... 5years old & 15K miles on it when we got it.

Late 80's to early 90's: 4WD Toyota Cargo VAN... the old one that looked like an armadillo... I loved that thing. OK, so what I had to floor it to take off from a light. Frigg'n thing was as thin as a razor and short as a bicycle, squeezed in spaces the width of a bicycle's handlebars...

Somewhere between: Some sort of Saab, a 99 or 900, I forget. I loved this thing, but the tranni sucked. Totaled (also).

Way before that... '69 Roadrunner ! Tranni had a 2:1 gear reduction w/something like 1:1.6 or so rear gearing... basically ready for big oval track! Totaled it... badly.

Before that a couple of or Toyota's ... Celicas I think ... couldn't tell you the models or years.

Before that and on and off until the Toyota Cargo VAN was a late 70s Ford F150 Pick-up that was way way underpowered; vehicle makers hadn't figured out how to keep emissions down and power-up yet (well, computers designing, and in vehicles, had a lot to do with changing that).

Oh ya, and some small engine'd Honda commuter bike for a while there, until I seized it. (ugh)

Until the last 10 years, Lame collection of vehicles compared to many's lists.

cars...

I think I have a fairly short list... fairly...

1984 Mercury Topaz
1991 Mercury Tracer
1994 Ford Probe GT
1997 Ford Probe GT
1993 Ford Probe GT
2002 Subaru WRX Sedan
2001 BMW 330Ci
2002 BMW 330Ci
2007 Forester XT Sports
2006 MINI Cooper S

(had a couple years of churning thru cars, but I actually had the WRX for over 5 years - kept getting offers on the 330's for more than I paid for them! )

Love the WRX and the MINI best of all. I wish I could have a WRX for the winter - that would be IDEAL for me!
