Unfortunately the lease on my VW has 2 more years to go, so I can't get my MC until then. In the meantime I still like to read everyones comments and dream a little. Just thought I'd share my dogs name with everyone. He is a Boxer and his name is Cooper. I am thinking about getting another puppy and naming him Mini Cooper.

Good name. Dogs are good in Coopers. Our pound hound is Angel, a long legged, yellow fox-looking pup, who loves all the windows and the easy access.

I haul two family greyhounds daily to work and back. Of course our newer grey is named MINI. The smaller hound (Bitsy) likes to curl up in the front seat and rest her head on my shifting arm and the bigger girl (MINI) uses the entire back seat to watch the world go by.

Lease? I’ve never understood the concept of leasing an auto. Renting, I do, but to lease?

You have a limited number of miles to put on it. It’s not yours. You have to turn it in and pay out the butt for anything over the contract. PLEASE explain the concept of leasing an auto to me.

Leasing...hmm, maybe some are ignorant.

I guess the idea of lower monthly payments and always having a relatively new car is something you dont understand.

Limited number of miles? Not really a problem for me. I leased it for 15K miles/yr. I drive less than 5 miles to get to work each day. That leaves more than enough miles to go on road trips etc. Now if I were to move to DC or something, that it would be a lot more straining.

It's not mine!!! Hell Yeah!! Drive it like a rental car!! Know that I'll always have a warrently. Knowing that I can drive it like I stole it, pushing the car to limits - knowing that I don't have to worry about the problems this may create come 80K. Knowing the car is only here for me to have fun now and not worry about it later.

Turn it in and pay out the butt -- for what, excessive milage? Not me. Anything realted to the way the car runs will be covered under warrenty. Cosmetically? Nothing here either - I keep my cars clean.

So whats your point??

Leasing may not be right for you, but its just fine for me!

I have financed a number of cars in the past. Each time, after making payments for four years, I decided that I wanted a new or different vehicle and sold or traded in the one I just paid off. I guess u could say that I get bored with the same vehicle. Therefore I decided to try leasing. Turns out that it works out great for me. However anyone who leases must be very careful and no a little about the way leasing works or u could be screwed. I never pay any "Down Payment." I never go over the allowed mileage, but I do see how that could be a problem for some people. Keep in mind leasing is not for everyone, but for others it is a great opportunity to drive a vehicle which they normally could not afford. Not everyone can purchase a Twenty thousand dollar vehicle for cash or put ten thousand dollars down just to get a reasonable monthly payment. I lease my vehicles for a lower monthly payment as compared to if i purchased them. Then after a period of time usually about 36 months and right about the time i am bored with the vehicle i get a new one. In addition if i really like the vehicle i can buy out the lease. Also i would not lease a vehicle for any period longer than the warranty. Therefore I always have a warranty in case of any major problems. You can look at it any way u want but i have never felt that the vehicle i leased was not mine. Although some people like to modify their vehicles, i don't, so it's not a problem. I think i will always have a car payment since i enjoy cars so much and don't have the cash to buy them outright so why not lease and have a lower monthly payment. I guess the point i am trying to make is that leasing does make sense for a lot of people me being one of them. However i can see why leasing is not for everyone and i hope u can see how leasing maybe be a good idea for some of us. Sorry this post is so long i got a little carried away

>>Leasing...

But can you paint it bright pink if you feel like it? If not, that's a deal breaker for me!
