There should be a button named "Auto". I put my vin in there, although the field said something else.

Hope that helps ....

Good to know!

Off subject but does anyone know how to decode the VIN number?

I was looking at some of the delivery times and it can take more than a month just for the boat to get here. We need to lobby together for faster cargo ships!!

>>What sort of Saab are you selling? 2 years ago I sold my 1999 Saab 9-3 SE HOT Turbo.. well, traded it in for the wifes mommy mobile anyhow. I cried that day, loved that car. I took delivery of it at the factory in sweden... put her on the ferry/cruise ship back to the UK where I lived at the time... those were good times. Don't do it!!!

I enjoy my Saab very much. It is pretty much the same as yours, except a 2001. As soon as I saw the MINI, though, I knew that the Saab would have to go. Can't afford to keep both. It is a great car out here in Colorado, but I am betting the MINI will be better! My wife is also too short to drive the Saab comfortably, so she can't keep it either. Know anyone who wants to buy it? Referral fees available of course.

This is funny. I've been scolded for selling my 99 Miata so I hate to mention that I'm also selling my '95 900SE. It saved my butt this last winter, but what can I say. I really want a Mini.

Where in Colorado are you? I grew up there, Evergreen, Littleton, Lakewood, etc... LOL we moved a lot.

You are probably wise to get rid of the SAAB before the warranty expires. My ABS control module went out under warranty... it would have cost me $1800 YIKES
I think the only thing you'll miss on the Saab is the incredible 3rd gear passing/highway power, and maybe the cargo capacity, depending on your needs. I'll have to motor out to Colorado in the MINI someday.. take a wicked drive up 285 to Turkey Creek Rd, to Evergreen, up Upper Bear Creek, back down, and then off to I-70 for a nice drive to Glenwood Springs to stay a few days. Sigh.. I'm now officially homesick!

Just found out that my Mini (a dark silver S) is awaiting transport on the Jingu Maru with a departure date of 7-19 (tomorrow). Talk about Just in Time scheduling!

Scheduled arrival is July 28th in New York - since we are in Connecticut hopefully the trip from one state to the next doesn't take too long. The lease is up on our Volvo S40 on August 5th so it sure would be nice not to have to be without a car for very long.

This is the most awesome experience - being able to track the car across the ocean. Unfortunately I am sure once it gets to NY it will be a complete black hole where the car is until it hits my dealer's door (New Country Mini, Hartford, CT - great bunch of people).

My Mini finished construction on Friday and has been waiting for a train. Do the boats always go out on Mondays or is it an all week activity? Now I'm getting really anxious since I know it's sitting in some parking space in Oxford waiting to come over.

Mine has been waiting for transport since Sunday (7/20). I wonder how long it will take...I've read some horor stories on this board from people who waited 2-3 weeks before their cars were loaded onto ships.

Good news possibly. My car finished on 7/18 was loaded onto a train yesterday. Hopefully yours caught a ride too -- and there's a boat waiting for us in Southampton.

Woohoo! My MINI is booked on the Jingu Maru for 8/7. It's sitting at the terminal now. I was driving into work this morning thinking I wasn't even going to check because it's not Friday or anything. I guess my car was finished last Friday and the site hadn't updated the info. How long does it take for the ship to cross the Pond? Since I am in Maryland I'm hoping for a Baltimore docking but even New York would be fairly close. Am I being too hopeful or is a mid to late-August pick up realistic?

Well folks, I tracked my vehicle last night on the Wallenius site, and indeed my car is also booked for "8/7." However, what scares me is that when you click on "voyage" to get more information, here's what you get...

BREMERHAVEN GERMANY Arrival: 12/08/2003 Departure: 13/08/2003
SOUTHAMPTON UNITED KINGDOM Arrival: 15/08/2003 Departure: 15/08/2003
NEW YORK, NY U.S.A. Arrival: 24/08/2003 Departure: 24/08/2003
CHARLESTON,SC U.S.A. Arrival: 26/08/2003 Departure: 26/08/2003

From this, it looks like it won't get to these shores before 8/24!

Whoa! My MINI was just re-booked onto the Tokyo Highway which is leaving Southampton on 8/3/03 and will be in New York on 8/11. I took the booking number and did a search using it - looks like mine was the next to the last car to make it onto the ship for that voyage. WooHoo! It looks like we will have our baby sometime in mid-August.

Anybody who was scheduled for the Jingu Maru check and see, you might have gotten onto the Tokyo Highway, too.

So psyched I feel jittery. Maybe just too much coffee this A.M.... Nah, I'm totally PSYCHED!!!!!!!

Woohoo! Thanks for the good news. I just checked and Hobbes was bumped up too. I feel like such a nerd because I just realized that I didn't have to look up my VIN.

Not sure if anyone cares but here is a picture of the Tokyo Highway. Looks like a lot of us might be on this ship. Looking at the VIN #'s on the website it looks like there are a lot of MINI's on this one!

It's almost here !!! My BRG MCS arrived in NY just yesterday, and the owners lounge shows a delivery date of Monday August 3rd !!! Considering the latest news on the stumble, I have to admit some of my exitement is fading. The more I learn about this car, the more I wish BMW had taken more of the "KISS" aproach. This will be my first new car purchase, I've leased a few, but never bought before. I was dreaming of paying it off then retireing it from regular duty and keeping it as either a club race car or the old sports car and modding it out as hobby. There are so many sensors and complicated systems that at best appear be only averagely reliable, I'm wondering if this the wrong car for such a adventure. I guess that's what happens when you spend 6 weeks reading about issues and problems and 10 minutes on the test drive, 8 weeks ago. Information overload, from only the negative side has taken some of the shine off what should be a great day. Maybe I can get a test drive from the dealer this week to rekindle the fire.

Well as Hyman Roth would say, this is the business we have chosen.

I went through the same anxieties earlier in the summer wondering what the h-- I was doing. The problems while very real are magnified on this forum and even with the problems there is still tremendous love for this car. I'm hoping to be one of the lucky ones and maybe July will be a banner month for quality control.

This is a British car engineered by Germans who don't exactly have a spotless reputation for problem free ownership. These are not Hondas and Toyotas by any stretch in terms of reliability, but they do possess great soul and character, and are infinitely better than the original cars which predated them.

Get a test drive. It worked for me. Maybe they'll even have a Works for you to drive to let you feel better. I put my order in March 1. My MA welcomed me back whenever I wanted a drive. They know what they're pushing.
