The current month's issue (July!! 2003) of Esquire has a neat MINI ad. It's a hard cardboard insert with two punch-out model cars...flat cards with folding directions. One turns into a CR/W Cooper with UJ roof and the other a DS/W S. Very neat. I can't remember if I've seen this ad before in other magazines, but it's possible it's a repeat of some of the Spring 2002 campaign. Anyway, the ad's stuck in the magazine at about the midpoint. Look for one at newstands, etc. as I'm sure that it'll have been taken from the copies you might find in doctors' offices, etc.
Then, see the classic Mini picture full page on pg 58. Arnold Schwarzenegger (cover story)is posing looking like he's holding it over his head.
Esquire was always a heavy ad buy for MINI, but they went all out this month!
Oh, and sorry these aren't available online. Esquire, like most of the big ad print mags, doesn't publish much to its website and the website is always about 3 months behind the print version. So you'll have to go get you one if you want to see the pics/ads (I guess that's the idea).

Another interesting ad I saw in this month's issue of Automoblie Mag. It is a card that compares the MINI to a WW II fighter and has various stickers representing PT Cruiser, VW Bug, Viper and SUv's that you can stick on your door once you shot the offending vehicle down(ie. beat them in the esses). These guys are thinking outside the box.

This week's New Yorker (June 16 & 23 double issue) also has the punch out MINI cars ad as well as a review of The Italian Job (Denby's opinion is the now classic, "old one was better; acting is dead; cars/stunts are neat; Charlize is hot".
Also, for regular New Yorker readers -- there might be one or two of us among MCO members -- you can usually find a small MINI ad in the little boxed ads that run in the last quarter of the magazine. Some of them are quite cool and they're usually based on a very simple visual with some kind of text pun (more text than in MINI's other print ads, but hey, it's the New Yorker...people are supposed to know how to read.)
