Just ordered my mini, but i still can't decide on color of wheel. Indi blu, white top, white bonnet stripes. I think the white wheels will probably look better once they get a bit of dirt on them. If anyone has any pics of them dusty, i would appreciate it. Got to make up my mind by early next week. Thanks for any response.

I have silver wheels, and they are a PAIN to clean... I can't even imagine the thought of white wheels, especially if you went with the 16"... The problem is cleaning the back of the rim... You can see all the grime built up from the brakes.... Once I got so mad, I jacked the car up, took off the entire wheel, cleaned it, and waxed it... All the wax did was make it harder to clean the next time.

Yes, silver wheels are enough work! Oy-vay! I have the 16" 5-spoake star and after a long trip or several days of commuting a short distance, they are literally MATTE BLACK with brake dust! I'm not kidding, really. And it doesn't get better the more miles you put on the car. White wheels would be too much to keep clean. I'd go insane. At least silver looks okay with a bit of dust on them because you don't notice it much, but with white it would be very noticeable. But, they would go with your roof color nicely. If you get the wheels with the 8 spokes, don't go white- too hard to clean inbetween the spokes. Tough choice, but I say go silver or get some nice shiny after market rims.

I have white 16" 5 spokes and they look great. Even when they are really dirty, you can only tell from up close and not at all when it's moving. The brake dust has lessened with each mile traveled. The glossy finish is much easier to clean than the rough surface on most silver alloys imho. Wax the wheels when you wax the car and the dust wipes right off with a dry towel. The only way to keep any wheels clean is to not drive your car. The MINI is meant to be driven and if I have to dust my wheels a couple of times a week, so be it!

My New Beetle has always had the same problem. I too, have removed all the wheels and cleaned the back sides of the rims, waxed them, and put them back on. My alloy rims only stay clean for a couple days before the brake dust really starts to bug the crap out of me. There are aftermarket brake pads from companies like EBC that put out minimal brake dust for my New Beetle, I wonder if there are some for the MC?

I know Cooper Works sells 'special' break pads... I'm not sure if they are low dust, but i'm sure they are better somehow...

I agree with Acetonic. The look of the white wheels with the white roof is amazing and well worth the pain of cleaning. So far I've cleaned the tires twice in 5 days becasue I've taken my MINI out motoring a lot since I got her and she definitely gets dusty with break dust. I bought those Armorall disposable wipes and use those to get the break dust off. Well worth it for th great look!

I have BRG w white accessories. When clean, nothing looks better than the white wheels.
My wife still cannot figure out how someone who leaves his underwear on the floor can clean his wheels everyday.
