I think I've decided to go for the rally look and get the bonnet strips and stripes on the rear, and the rally lights. It just looks so good on the silver/black color combo in the Member MINIs gallery (pg 34 I think). I need to get them installed before I get the paint protection film installed. (Yes, they can go under the film.)

Has anyone had the "S" stripes (with the black or white rule on them) put on the Cooper? The black with white rule looks so good on the silver S's, but I have the standard Cooper. The parts guy said he held the two kinds up together and they were the same length , but the "S" stripes had a different curve to them on the inner edge. Would it look okay? Anyone know? I'm really excited about the rally look and think that this is the only car it belongs on (the Dodge Ram's look ridiculous with racing stripes). Yipeeee

Actually per 3M (who makes the film), you can have the film put over or under the stripes. It does adhere to the stripes and the small airpocket along the edges on the stripes defintely goes away after time. The place that will be installing the film has done a LOT of high-end cars, and the Vipers have those wide stripes on them, so he knew all about it. He recommended putting the stripes under the film so they are also protected from road debris.

Yeah, I'm not gonna get the rip-off MINI lights (Universal wants $1140 installed!!!). I'll get the PIAA's with the chrome rock guard and do it myself. They look so good!

I was surprised that at the HB meet there was not a single car with the flag or UJ on top and none with the MINI bonnet stripes. There were a bunch with the rally lights though- and they looked great. The meet is what sparked the desire to go rally-style.

So, has anybody put the S Stripes on the standard Cooper?

STRIPES! but than again mine is the rally style and I like the stripes. If I could have made the HB trip I would have been the only one with stripes. I am waiting for my silver, dark silver, white UJ from CarVogue. The silver dark silver and black UJ would look good on your car too! They will do a US flag in those colors too.

You can't go wrong either way. I personally prefer the pure silver/black combination without the stripes. Its a classic color combination that I never get tired of. On the other hand the stripes give it a bolder look. I'm going without the stripes but went with a little bit more of a wild (at least for me) interior with the blue lapis leather. So many decisions but whatever you decide it will be perfect and your own.

Stipes look cool on a Cooper. I have the white stripes with the black rule on my BRG MINI with the rally lights.

Yeah, at first it was perfect without stripes and I didn't want them eventhough they looked great on other cars. I did want the rally light, but they were too expensive. But now I get the feeling that this particular car is in need of the stripes and lights. Like I said, this is the only car that rally stripes and lights actually belong on. It adds spunk and attitude. And that's what Emma is all about! She's my alter-ego

*gobsmacked*, if you do not mind telling us, may I ask what you paid for the silver UJ and shipping (what conversion rate they used)? I know installation is $150 in my area. I am very interested in one too. I have the sunroof and would not want to cover it up, but I see they have the holey decal for sunroofs available. That would be awesome!!! I told myself that if I didn't get the sunroof, I'd have definitely gotten the UJ. Definitely the coolest flag design from an artistic standpoint. It goes perfectly with the rally look.

Thanks everyone for the opinions!

Wow justjoe, your baby is loaded. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! What color roof did you get? There's so much you can do with decals, isn't it great! I want a silver UJ on top now (thanks to gobsmacked for bringing that to my attention!)

I went with the Dark silver with body colored roof since My dealer told me that out of the 24 minis that he had ordered Nobody had ordered one that way. I just posted a couple of pics in the member MINI section ( the last 3 ) I wanted to attach them but couldn't figure it out LOL

I like the stripes. I have an Indi Blue and white that would look greast (er) in stripes, but my wife hates the idea. Does anyone make magnetic vinyl stripes that can be put on and taken off at will?
