Will disconnecting my battery require me to enter the 4 digit security code (Safety Number on the card given to me by my MA) for my HK stereo? If so, how do I do this? I can't find any instructions for how to do this anywhere.

Thanks.

well if it is similar to my honda, then after u hook up the battery, use the numericals on the cd player to enter the digits, then the radio will start playing automatically

No. As long as the stereo is installed in your particular car it will not ask you for a code if you disconnect the battery. In fact, your presets remain intact for a long time unpowered. If you transfer the stereo to another MINI it will not work. If you plan on doing this you must set your stereo to "CODE" in it's settings. You then enter the code once it's installed in the other car. The settings in the unit determine if the stereo uses the code or if it 'talks' to the other vehicle systems through the 'K-Bus'.

I don't have my manuals handy to guide you through this process. Apologies!

Thanks a bunch.

That was what I wanted to hear. My 12 year old VW, on the other hand, requires me to re-enter the code every time the battery is disconnected, and I have to go back and program all of my settings again. I'm about to do the wiring for the driving lights and wanted to make sure before I started.
