Release cable to make seat slide forward
Just as soon as my warranty ran out, both my passenger and driver's side seats stopped sliding forward. Driver's side had slipped off the stop (easy fix), but passenger side had a broken release cable (cable is exposed to kicking by back-seat passengers). When I went to the dealer to get a new cable, I found out the only way Mini sells it is as part of the rail assembly $198! That's a bit rich for me....any idea where I might be able to get the cable without the rails?

I would try ebay and if that fails, google it. Then there's always your local junk yard, but that should be your last resort.

Issue with seat sliding forward
You may be allright. The litmus check is to pull on the cable where it attaches to the seat-back on the lower left-hand corner (seen from the back seat) of the passenger seat. Unless it's taught, it's most likely broken. However, if it appears to be intact checK where the cable enters the sleave, the sleave should be seated in a u-shaped slot acting as an anchor for the pulling action when the seat folds forward. If the cable has popped out of the slot, simply pop it back in and you're back in business.
