Get you life back on track:

1. Sell the VW
2. Order your dream MINI
3. Then wait for its arrival
4. Set your eyes on it for the first time and fall in love.

Someone mentioned that you'd been seduced by the dark side- nothing could be further from the truth. It's more like "Feel the force!". When I first began thinking seriously about trying to buy a MINI, I just needed to find a way to make things work financially. When I did it was a peak moment, since there hasn't been a new vehicle in our lives since 1985! The toughest part of all is the wait. If you can find a way to drive one off the lot and skip labor and delivery, by all means go there!! Oh, and by the way, I love my PS/B MC but If I had it to do over again, I'd buy an IB/W one w/ white wheels.

Hey fms,
The dark side thing was just a joke, but it's not THAT far from the truth.

Dark side... Light side.
Wrong side... Right side.

Whatever!

I can't sleep. I can't work. I can't remember to feed my cat (oh wait, he's got an automatic feeder). I NEED a Mini!

I was the same way, then i bought a MCS and said I would leave it stock. Well at least the head and bottom end of the motor is still stock...

If I work in Jersey anytime soon you are welcome to take out my MCS for a ride.

Or I have to pray for a small miracle that I could sell the Passat quickly and go snag the IB/W MCS that has been taunting me in Princeton Mini. It is EXACTLY what I "built" when I was messing around on the Miniusa site.

If you can find your MINI on a lot, you are one lucky girl! I vote trade in the old car on the MINI. It will save the time you may take to sell it and it will reduce the amount of sales tax you pay on the MINI.

I say RUN down there and GRAB it!

-- I have a lease that ends in Dec, I had to wait until July to even get to place my order, just trying not to be upside down on that lease! It's been a long 9 months! and I still have 3 more to wait.

>>Hey thanks, but I'd feel pretty stupid showing up in a non-Mini for a group drive.

Two weeks ago I showed up for the Bucks Co drive without a MINI. Mine gets in next month.

Talk about courage...I didn't even have a VW...I drove a Saturn! ("Hello, my name is David. I drive a Saturn.&quot

There were 56 MINIs there. And everyone welcomed me. So take the VW, join the crowd, and have a great time.

warning...even with a VW, you'll come out of the twisties wanting a MINI worse than ever!

Hey...I just finished reading your message...a poor schlub? Come on now!

I've owned a Fiat, VW (Jetta), Pontiacs, Volvo, and Saturn. They've each had their positives and negatives. With the MCS, driving will be fun again.

I felt like anything but a poor schlub in the Saturn. Sure, it was tough keeping up with two MINIs doing 80 on the Turpike and with the MINIs in the twisties, but I pushed it and had a great time. And, with the back window appropriately decorated ("Waiting for September&quot I had--and provided others with--a good laugh. I felt great.

Now my MCS jumps on the boat in two days and my nephew goes off to college with my Saturn. Will he be a poor schlub? No, I suspect he'll be one of the luckier students on campus!

Happy motoring!

Well, here's an update. The VW is about halfway finished getting it's cooling system flushed and we should be getting the new thermostat in tonight. Would have been further along yesterday but it takes forever for the engine to cool off in this ridiculous weather we're having.

Once it's done, I'll wash it, take some pictures and put it up for sale. Hopefully one of the ricers on the VW board will be interested. I hate the thought of abandoning my nice car to one of them, but for $4200 and a new Mini, I'll do it! As long as I don't have to see what they do to the poor thing.

Of course now that I've made the decision to sell the car earlier in hopes of getting that IB/W car at the dealer, I'm sure it will be sold. Sorry, but I'm an eternal pessimist. Maybe I'll go visit it at lunch today.

P.S. I've already thought of a name for my Mini.

Deli, no offense was intended. I simply meant it must have been painful to have the only non-Mini car there. I know it would be for me. But I guess that's just me.

Glad you had a great time and good luck with your car when it arrives!

Hi Robyn,

Deli wasn't the only non mini at that event. I was still driving my Ford SVT Contour when I went on that covered bridge run. There was also someone driving a Z06 Corvette. I think everyone had a blast even if they weren't driving a Mini, well I know I did.

Oh,by the way welcome to Mini Cooper Online.

If you really want to get into a Mini and want to do it now, Mini of the Main Line had 3 unsold Cooper S types sitting on their lot. Give them a call and take a test drive. Who knows, you might not even like the car after you drive it. Drive it and then decide what you are going to do.

Robyn, put it up on here too, you never know.

Actually, we've been thinking of picking up a third car, specifically a wagon, though I doubt we'll be ready in time for your timeframe. But ya never know, give us some details.

Good luck!!!!

Don't get me wrong. I do like my Passat. If you didn't know anything about cars, you'd never know it's 10 years old. It looks fantastic inside and out and it's fun to drive. I'm sure it doesn't compare to a Mini but for a wagon it's pretty nice. The back seat is incredibly roomy. More leg room back there than the newer Passats and many larger cars.

I'm just trying to get myself into a pattern so I don't end up with two old cars at the same time. The BMW is 6 years old so it's a good time to replace the Passat. Plus, the interest rates are still fairly low and I'd like to get in before they go up.

And just think...if you have a 6 cylinder Passat your first
payment will probably be less than getting the plugs changed
on the Passat!!!

I do have a 6-cylinder, but I'm a do-it-yourselfer when it comes to something basic like changing the plugs, so I'm sure my first payment will be much more than the cost of just buying new plugs.

Oh well. A friend has one and I couldn't even figure
how to get the plug wires off. I am assuming a special tool?

Yep, a special tool. Actually on my car they give you the tool. It was mounted on the rod that holds the hood open. Unfortunately, it's plastic so it generally breaks before you get the first wire off. I ended up getting a metal one. Guess I can sell that now too. More money for the Mini.

Be careful. They are kind of like boats.
