I was just wondering how often does anybody else change there oil.Do you change it when your service is do(every 15,000 miles)I know in all my other cars,truck I change it every 4000 miles,I have 6700 miles to my next service and I am thinking of changing it this weekend.I have about 20,300 miles on my mini now.

 

Recommend you do a search on oil change. There are several recent topics with much good info on NAM.

 

I do it at half of the recommended service interval. Just make sure you don't reset the service counter or you won't get the free oil change.

 

every 12K kms (7.5K miles) for me. Castrol syntec 5W-40 then Redline 5W-30.

recommended by the dealer is like 12-15000 i think..

but i think that's a bit extreme based on my search on NAM, so i do it every 6-7000 miles.

 

I can't get used to these extended service intervals. I usually do my cars twice as often as they recommend.

No need to reset it because if you change oil twice as often as the dash light shows then the next service interval should be about time to change it.

For example if your dash light says change at 15,000 miles and you reach about 7500 miles and do your own oil change then in about 7500 more miles the dash light will show it's time to change.

Otherwise you can search for how to reset the dash light, it's been discussed before.

You can use any Full synthetic oil 5W-30.

Those that check oil with analysis report that synthetic oil can be due for a change at about 9000 miles.

Many owners will change oil early about 5000 to 7000 is common. Any of those intervals are safe.

Just check your oil level each month.
