i noticed on some Mini's that they have a lens that looks from the inside to be fluted like the old VW or Porsche/ Mercedes lens' of the 1950-60's. They are not the Xenons for sure and they look different than the standard reflector headlights..

Standard factory lights on the 02-04 MINIs, halogens or HIDs I do believe externals remained the same only the internals would change for HIDs.

Pre-facelift standard lights.
05 facelift lights look like #2 for halogens and #3 for HIDs.
(#4 is same as #3 but with joey mod and after-market angel eyes)
