Well some people would think that this is another day, But for me it isn't... The Mini Is gone forvever and the new car comes in its place.. YES the VW Jetta 1.8T,5 speed race car with sport suspension takes the road this afternoon..
Why all this sudden change after ONLY 5 months ? Well 1. a hassel going back to the dealership garage for stuff that broke OR it wasn't fixed properly,2. trying to communicate with customer service and that was difficult and 3. I actually relized that I needed more room inside the car.
Don't get me wrong I still think the car is really nice and cool, But They still have alot of BUGS and nests they need to figure out. So... All you mini owners, keep motoring and If a guy waves at you from Jetta well it could be me...

Enjoy the VW... the 1.8T is a great motor, makes great power once you get by the small turbo-lag. I SERIOUSLY hope the build quality is better on that Jetta than on our 2000 Turbo-Beetle GLX ... bolts loosening in the hatch, stiching coming loose on the leather seats (after only 20k miles) and electrical gremlins including failed CC switch, wiper/washer pump, etc. I really liked the Beetle, but it was our second VW with more problems than we care to deal with... of course, our's was a Mexican build car so I hope/suspect you'll have better luck with the Jetta!!!
Enjoy!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion but you misquoted him. He never said he didn't like the MINI and even said it was still really nice and cool.
The MINI doesn't work for everyone, for different reasons. Nothing wrong with that.

Danbo,
Thanks for posting and you are welcome to drop in on us anytime in the future. It's always your choice to pick whatever vehicle makes the most sense in your case. It's really nice to have a car that works well for you and have enthusiastic support from others that share your passion.
Good luck with your endeavours and be safe. Aloha.

>>Once again I express MY opinion and the peanut gallery chimes in.
NB has a point. This is a forum: "... for Mini enthusiasts.." we're so worried about not saying anything that might be offensive to to an unhappy FORMER owner that we tell a REAL enthusiast he needs to "take his meds"???? Come on people...

I hate to rain in yer parade but the VW Jetta has many, many unsolved issues and pesky bugs......broken power windows, failed oxygen sensors, interior squeaks and rattles, failed engine coils, etc, etc. Go to http://www.edmunds.com or http://www.vwvortex.com to see the "Beauty" of Mexican VW build quality and reliability. VW's customer service and dealer service continues to rank at the bottom of the barrel. We'll you'll see that for yourself...I see you trading in that "Solid" VW for a Toyota Corolla or Civic in less than 6 months
Besides, VW is coming out next year with the next generation Jetta/Golf Platform the MKV. The stock Jetta handles mushy and with a solid rear axle don't expect MINI or BMW quality handling.
We are very happy with our '02 Cooper CVT....12 months, 12.1K miles and ZERO complaints! Can't wait to get my '04 MCS!!
Also beware of VW's built in Puebla, Mexico such as yours. Very junky cars to say the least. You should have gotten a VW Golf or GTI at least the Brazilian made VW's seem to hold up better than the Mexican made cars.

danbo, good luck with the VW. I share the same frustration....everything that could go wrong with my car, has and the repairs have been insufficent to say the least. However I just cant bring myself to get rid of it...but I am trying. As the cars get up there in miles we are starting to see more and more people jump ship. Might be the smart ones... Dont mind NOBull, his level of communication is neanderthal-like to say the least.

I agree with Antsmini.. I'm on windsheild 4 , the closest dealer is 500 miles away and I've been in for warranty work toooo many times but I just can't not see myself driving it. I have an old (65) mini cooper that I have to beg to run well but I couldn't get rid of it either. Must be an illness or something but they are just so damn cool!

Anyway, I think just about any car you get will at some point have some problems. I have fully enjoyed my Jetta for the 4 years of my lease and I would recommend VW cars to anyone.
But I'm also totally looking forward dropping my Jetta off at VW and picking up my new MINI over Labor Day weekend!!

No matter what the focus of any forum is, it's not right to misquote someone and then blast them for it. If someone wants to blast someone else, at least it should be for what they REALLY said, not for what the blaster mistakenly THOUGHT they said.
NB certainly has every right to his opinion, but shouldn't it be based on what was really said?

>>The Beetle's a chick car.
Oh, btw, it was a Silver Turbo-Beetle, 150 hp, light, fast, didn't handle quite as well as the Mini, but still a blast to drive. One night after a training and some beers our Karate instructor tried racing us in his Dodge Sebring... I got an email the next morning stating he now needed to buy a Viper to save his masculinity (trust me when I say this guy has NOTHING to prove )

ok, so this guy says he's sold his Mini because of lots of problems, concerns about quality, and dissatisfaction with service -- but he "likes the Mini" and you believe him... boy have I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. But I digress. The issue is NB (who's keeping his Mini) did NOT call him "neandrathal" or tell him to "take his meds" as certain other kind forum members have done.
