Sold My MCS

Sadly sold my 05 MCS today. Have loved having it but I wasn't driving it much....only 250 miles in the last 5 months as I really need four doors for life and our 16 month-old daughter. It has a great new owner that will enjoy and care for it really well.

Thanks to all here over the last years for your input, output and general good natures.

Thanks for all the kind words.

You know...I did look at the Clubman yesterday as I met my buyer at Bob Smith Mini. Looks great! Truly though...there isn't that much more room. From the reading I've done, seems their performance is almost on a par with the hatchback. I also like the look of the AWD version that may be available in a couple of years.

We'll see!

Once the kids can fasten and unfasten their own seatbelts, you'll be back in your MINI!

I have two other 4 doors! Never got to drive the MCS. Couldn't keep it and never drive it. Lot's of money in something that I wasn't getting to use. It didn't make sense at this point in my life.

A MINI for a mid life crisis?! That's a small crisis.... If I had not been driving Ferrari's since my 20's, I would think that I would be in a major crisis!

No reason to leave the forums! Stick around, visit, offer opinions and advice, and enjoy one of the best auto sites on the interweb. We won't chase you away. Owning a MINI is kinda like a tatoo. The mark it leaves is pretty permanent.

Boohoo

You could have kept the R53 S, dump the 4Runner and get a Clubman. We have a 20 month old toddler and 2 MINIs....No problems whatsoever. We use the Clubman S and my '05 R53 S as family cars and loving it.

Never understood the logic behind selling a MINI because of having a child..

Hmmm....

Well...the 4 Runner is my company car used for carrying clients to see the properties they may buy. Thus a necessity. Comfort and ease of ingress/egress are good things.

The Forester is a great other option instead of the MCS as there are 4 doors...real doors compared to the Clubman. Truly more space, truly a safer vehicle to be carrying our new child in. I have intimate experience regarding horrendous car crashes and mass + modern safety features does offer a better chance at survival. The MCS was OK when it was a choice for just me, but not the choice for our daughter.

Everyone makes choices for themselves based on their experience and opinions. I do love the MCS for me and am sad that it's gone as said, but I never put our daughter in it. Life can change in an instant on the road (as well as anywhere!), I want to provide a better chance for survival for her and still be concious of MPGs, emmissions, etc. Subarus are a good mid-ground between a Mini and a Hummer or Suburban. I also don't want to start-up the whole thing about Mini safety as that has been touched upon in so many threads. They are safe cars for their size...maybe the safest, but there are safer cars.

Andro! Just wanted to say thanks since I AM the new owner of your MCS! I absolutely love the car as do friends and family that have seen it so far. She is getting window tint today to enhance her amazing beauty. For those out there looking to buy, take your time and do your research. If Andro is selling another car....BUY IT! It's bound to be in immaculate shape. Thanks again Andro! You are my pal for life.

Hockeyman,

So, so, so glad that the MCS went to you. A man who will continue to love, enjoy and care for it as I did. I see others around now and with each sighting I have a pang of loss.

All the best!!!

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one...

The MINI is one of the safest vehicles on the road today. My son has ridden in nothing but MINIs since he was born. I have never felt he is unsafe in it. And the Clubman is a limo in comparison to my R53 S.

True we all make choices, however, I have found out that I don't need to have "4 real doors" and a vehicle with poorer gas mileage (and handling) as reasoning to have another vehicle a la SUV.

I guess this is the typical American mentality...bigger is always better! (I guess we all should be driving Peter Builts and Kenworths to provide better protection!)

But as they say... To each their own.

(PS: You'll be back and a lot sooner than you think)
