Strange "click" sound and "Service Engine Soon" light
Over the last few weeks, I have noticed a single "click" sound at just about every takeoff from a stop. The click almost sounds like a pump turning on or the engine fan switching on. I usually drive with my windows down, so it is very noticeable while driving. It is not the A/C pump as I rarely have the A/C switched on (I'd know it if it was on because my car would drive like it lost about 20 hp ).
Just a couple of days ago, the "Service engine soon" light came on. Don't know if the two issues are related. I called the dealership to make an appt and the lady I spoke with tried to convince me that it was my fuel cap not screwed on tightly enough....but went ahead and scheduled a time for my car to be checked out this-coming week anyway. I don't think it really has anything to do with the fuel cap as I always turn it til it stops. It would have reset by now anyway.
Any ideas as to what this clicking sound may be?

This click sound has been documented and discussed by many here, do a search and you'll find a lot of possibilities. I have been trying to track it down and am now beginning to think it is the funky two piece flywheel making the noise. It sounds like a worn out CV joint popping and cracking, but I don't think that is what it is.

I will check the nut as you guys have suggested.
My check engine light went out on Friday, so I thought that maybe it was the fuel vacuum that was the problem. Then, tonight at the end of an hour drive on the interstate, it lit up again. So, I guess i'll keep my appointment for this Tuesday to get it checked out.
In regards to the loose nut on the axle, where exactly should I look? Is it something I have to get under there and really search for or is it right out in the open where I'll be able to see it when I climb under? Not having to do any maintenance on my own (yet) with this car, i'm not so familiar with the setup under there.

Fastlane, I do not know where the nut is. I just took it to the dealer and let them figure it out.

O.K., here's an update... The dealer has had the car since Tuesday morning and just now diagnosed the problem. The engine light was and O2 sensor (no surprise I guess) and the clicking sound was the driver's side drive shaft. They are having one overnighted so I should have the car back tomorrow....hopefully.
