Bought mine a little over 3 years ago. Currently 20miles away from hitting 100K miles. Though 2015 was an expensive year with new OEM Clutch + Flywheel, LSD Upgrade done at the same time, Stoptech brakes and 3 oil leaks...Im gonna continue to daily drive it for another couple years. Not to mention its a blast to commute in every day!

Well, I originally thought that I would keep it forever, but more and more, it looks like I'm going to get rid of it. It needs so much work that by the time I fix everything, I'll never get the money back out of it. Thousands in aftermarket parts and it's the stupid, failing stock stuff that has turned me off of this car...you can barely get in or out of it because of the overly complicated door mechanisms!! Crappy igniters on the headlights, needs a new radiator and of course the supercharger is in need of replacement. Anybody want a project? At least it's rust free.

Well, that post was many moons ago. In due course I sold my '09 MINI and for several years I drove a couple of rather old VW Cabriolets. But this past summer my wife decided that she wanted us to get back to the MINI fold again, so we bought ourselves a slightly used 2016 MINI Countryman ... and we have been enjoying it immensely.

It'll be 13 years this Sunday since I collected mine. Now on 80k miles, and only does 800 miles a year now but definitely going nowhere. I actually ran more miles in 2017 than drove my Mini...

Just put the R56 rear arms on, and got the R56 undertrays to fit as well.

142K on my 2004 Justa... it seems to be losing power almost daily... may need a engine rebuild... with a lot of go faster parts... internals, externals, all kinds of ternals... ohwell... still cheaper than a new car. plus I really like the car.

Wow, this thread was started in 2008. Now has 34 pages, several recent posts this week. It got my attention.

I haven't been on this website for some time now.

Our 05 MCS, purchased new in February 2005 (ordered with Jet Black) is still sitting in the garage looking almost new. 44,500 miles so far. The wife keeps the dust to a minimum. I promise, this car will be right here when I'm dead and gone. I may purchase other modes of transportation in the meantime, but this one is going no where.

I did completely use up an 06 MCS that I purchased "USED" at a local CARMAX.

But that's another story.

I read through quite a few pages of this thread and I'm loyal to a fault. I purchased an '03 MCS on the 17th (my early Christmas present to myself lol) and I've been grinning every since. I've dreamt of owning a Mini since watching (yep, you guessed it) The Italian Job on base in '03. I've been blessed to have a couple "dream" cars; '03 Evo VIII and I still have my '00 E39 540i back home in Texas. I had to give up my Evo after learning a valuable lesson in friendship and loyalty but my 540 and this MCS shall remain under my derriere as long as we all shall live, then pass it on. I'm cheating on my 540 because it's in a different area code, zip code, time zone, and on the mainland. I humbly ask for forgiveness because I LOVE THIS AUTOMOBILE!

Whippersnapper. I've dreamt of owning one since I was 13 in 1969 with the original Italian Job.

I tell people I'm having an identity crisis since I got my MINI in March. I don't know whether I'm Michael Caine, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg or Charlize Theron.

I'll keep mine forever...at least for my forever. I bought mine on a lark as I got rid of my last hobby car 10 years ago. In April, 2015, I found a R52 S, auto, in a garage in Key Largo, Fl. with 3,648 original miles. I bought it and it now has about 26,000 miles. It is a play car that doesn't see rain or snow, and goes to the dragon each year. I'm 74...the car will surly outlive me

LMCAO That is too funny but I do identify with your crisis. Nothing like the original. I've often wondered if I could fit into an original Mini but who knew I could into the latest Mini rendition. At 6'4", I actually have to slide my seat forward slightly in order to allow my arms to settle into a comfortable driving position. Maybe the original is similar... I couldn't afford one anyway so I'll just continue to enjoy my R53 as long as I'm able to.
After last year's motorcycle wreck, this will be my driving getaway means ofc transportation. Heck, it's almost as fuel effient and much, MUCH safer. lol I'm no Spring chicken but I'll identify with being a whippersnapper as I am still quite hard-headed. If my wife wouldn't leave me, I'd get another bike. Since she's sticking around, I'll have my fun in my MCS.

Thats an awesome find! I pray that I'm able to enjoy my Mini for many more moons to come. @ 46, I've got a ways to go to catch up with you. lol

dvlmni - There is a whole thread about how tall are you and driving a MINI...it kind-of died when some pro basket ball player posted on it...

Our '04 (new Oct '03) just turned 60k miles. Got a few oil leaks that need fixing and there is a new set of FSDs waiting to go in. Maybe a new set of spark plugs and battery (10+ years old now) are in it future too.

I'm no where close to an NBA Pro. I did, however, try out for a semi-pro league the summer before joining the Marine Corps. That was fun! It was the first time I had the fortune of playing with a true 7-footer. I did shine that week but my narrow frame was beat out by the player I was guarding. lol I was 6'4" 175 and he was 6'2" 185. He simply looked more durable because our stats were almost identical. Fun times...
I got mine with 128k which is where it still is. I haven't driven it much but boy have I driven it when I have! I told the previous owner, who also has an '05 MCS, about my experience with FSDs. I've never owned them but after riding with a friend who did, they'll replace whatever's on this car now when the time comes. So far, the only "need" is a ballast and matching tires soon. These tires, besides being mix-matched, are a little loud for my taste so they'll be replaced very soon despite the remaining life. I haven't found any leaks yet but I know they're coming. No complaints from me though. After all, the car IS 14 years old. My baby boy is 16 with leaks! lol

Nice!

You need to drive that car more.

And, at 128k miles, those shocks are shot. Mine (on my 2012 were shot at 55k).

The previous owner listed quite a few mods to the car; control arms and bushings, front grills, crossed drilled slotted rotors, stanless steel exhaust, intake, 15% supercharger pulley , speakers and stereo, all led lighting in and out, clucth, alternator and battery. I'll be getting to the struts and shocks in the coming months. They seem to be fine now.

The shocks will be the crowning touch to what sounds to be a very fun car. Nice that the previous owner did all of that for you.

Enjoy!

I daily drive my 06 MCS JCW. It is about to show 150K on the clock and I intend on keeping it for the foreseeable future.
It still runs like stink and keeps me smiling daily! I had a 05 MCS and got it up to 166K miles before I found the latest JCW.
The 06 shares time with my work truck. A 2013 Ford F150 3.5 Twin turbo, which I haul cars that I sell. I have already got 165K on it with lots of long drives to pick up cars, so it is always towing a car trailer.
The 06 MCS JCW keeps me feeling young and it handles the twisties like no other car I have owned and I have owned a life time of sports cars.
From corvettes, to MGB, to Lotus and I have found nothing more fun to drive!
As long as some idiot does not rear end me on braking and I keep it on the road, I will keep it until one or the other of us parts this world!
I feel Mini Coopers capture the meaning of driving and for me are like the fountain of youth!

Good taste!!

I am lucky enough to have a few cars in the fleet. I love my R52 JCW Sidewalk and my E39 M5 supercharged, both 3 pedal and both with a fair amount of mods.

Although my R53 MCS with JCW mods is more practical, not as much fun as the convertible.

Can't see ever getting rid of either the R52 or the M5.

Regards,
Jerry

Supercharged M5?!!! Holy tire smokers Batman! NICE RIDE! My 540 wants to be an M5 when it grows up. I have yet to mod my 540 but my MCS came with a head start on the mod path.
