I was wondering what people thought about different aftermarket drink holders?

I was also looking for that new one that clips onto the center bars.

The one you are looking for is made by MINI Fini, and can be purchased at your MINI dealer parts dept, for some ridiculous amount of money. Or you can order a new car and get it free.

I have heard that the ridiculous amount of money for the MINI-Fini cupholder is $35

I have found that the stock front cupholders fit a 12 oz. soda perfectly and a 500ml water bottle can be squeezed in as well. Since those are what I normally have stocked in the fridge, the size and location of the front holders has never been a concern of mine.

For larger beverages, your MINI has a larger cupholder between the seats. With a little practice, it is pretty easy to reach back there and grab your larger sized fast food cup of soda.

Anyway, hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks yucca, I never thought of using the back cup holder.
Do you think it would be hard to reach for those of us who are very short? I'll have my seat just about as far to the front as it will go and I may not be able to reach back that far. -- you know the short arms - short legs issue. But I'll give it a try before spending a large amount of money on a cup holder!

I have the ones from Moss MINI that attach under and outside of the original holders. You remove the trim and mount the cup holders. However because of where they sit, if you are short your seat will prevent it from opening on your side. I keep my seat just forward enough that I can't normally use the drivers side one, so I routinely use the passenger side cup holder. If somebody is in the passenger seat I can slide my seat back enough to use the cup holder and safely drive, its just not real comfortable

I use the rear one as well. It may be harder to reach back though if your seat is all the way up. The front ones hold my ipod and cell phone.

_____________

Agree $35 is ridiculous, but at any rate I bought one and attached it to the passenger side pillar and I must say it is terrific, use it from Big gulps to bottle water. The stock holders are ridiculous, use them to hold my cell phone and change. I used to use the rear cup holder which is ok, but the new holder is really convenient and not an eye sore which I thought it might be, slides over the right cup holder or slides out....one cup holder is all I needed, if passenger wants to use it, I just use the rear holder...I love it, easy to install and $35 is no big deal to me for the added convenience, but agree a big profit margin for someone...lol !

Buy a sleeve of plastic disposable cups and leave one in each cup holder. that way you can hold larger drinks (20 oz. sodas, 32 oz cups, etc.) additionally you can have change, lip balm, whatever in the cups (which won't interfere with inserting your drink into the cup holders). additionally you can take the cups out and dump its contents into your hand, the trash whatever. TRY THIS!!!!!
