215 40 17ssssssssssssss

Opinions, and experience please...Wife called with a flat, original runflats had blown out on the right front, litterally self destructed to the point i did not want to drive any farther than neccessary...made it 4 miles to discount tire, where the only in stock tire that fit was the Falken Azenix, 215 40 17....Have any of you run this size without problems? the gap between the tire and the front strut is about a 1/4 inch........So far they seem to run fine, but want the benefit of your experience.....

I had 225/40/17. If the car was full, the problem was at bumps. The rest was ok.

I'm looking for new tires and want a long lasting tire with a better ride. I talked to Alex at The Tire Rack and he suggested a 215-45-17 over the 205-45-17 that I now have. I don't think he would have suggested that size if there could be a problem. These are non R/Fs.

I have that size with BFG's and about 5k. They came on the car. No problems. I checked the size right away because it tachs pretty high at 75mph. (I wondered if a taller tire would fit, but I didn't check the inside clearance.)

I ran through a set of 215/45 17 Azenis a couple of years back. Great tire for the money, but now I am a convert to the only slightly more expensive Dunlop Z1.

Thanks you all. If I had it to do over I would prefer the 45, but It seems fine with the 40..Checked with a gps and the speedo indicates about 3 mph hi at 70, and the tach is about 80 rpm higher than before.....................

I have BFG g Force on now and were great until I got some milage on them [23k] and now the noise level is really bad. I didn't rotate them as often as I should have so that may be the reason. Also they may be worn out even tho I have good tread left. I've used BFG Radial T/As on my other cars for years with no problems.

No Problems for me

Have Hankook ventus V4ES 215-45-Z17 on the 06 MCS checkmate OEM horseshoe rims. I have had no problems and have almost 30K on them. I don't think they make the same tire now, but you asked about size. I've also read good things bout the Goodyear eagle F1 GS D3, that might be what I get in the same size next

If you got 17x7 wheels, in my opinion 215/40-17 is the best size tire. More width (215) less rotational diameter (40). Falken Azenis RT 615 were the one of the top auto-x and track day street tires several years ago. Not a wet or cold day tire though.
