R50/53 Long Waits???

Yes. The $500 most other dealers are quoting is for the purchase of the clear bra and installation. At least that's the impression I'm getting.
I wouldn't know for sure. I purchased the kit from Auto Clear Guard and installed it myself. You can save yourself some money if you have some patience for that kind of stuff.

For what it's worth, I ordered my late '03 MCS from MINI of Towson on 06-10-03 and the car arrived 08-22-03. In addition, they went a full 1/4% BELOW the rate that my credit union was going to give me. I kinda lucked out in terms of $$$, though, as the credit union is now offering a "beat-your-current-financing-plan-by-a-full-percentage-point" deal. Doesn't matter - I'm still in a boatload of debt for a while!
Hope this helps...

Can't really help you with the financail stuff, but...
Congratulations; it looks like you'll be motoring in no time. As for the CVT, I have one and it is great. Just to let you know, I test drove all 3 MINI variations (Cooper, CVT, and S) and really found the CVT most enjoyable for me. The 3 modes is has are great: D for driving in cities, SD for nice acceleration, and MS mode if you want manual shifting w/o a clutch. It really is the best of both worlds. Good luck w/ the Indi CVT.

Thanks for the advice Jerseygirl! I just got approved for a $25000 loan with a good rate from Capital One Auto!! How long did it take for you receive your blank check? Once you get the check, do you need to fill out a bunch of info to send back to Capital One? The "Motoring Advisor" from Mini of the Hamptons said they will deliver the car to me....do they mean they will deliver it to a closer dealer or deliver it directly to me?? I am so excited!! Since they said they would deliver to me, does that mean that I won't have to go out there for anything?? So many questions, so little time!!

Can't help you about the delivery thing. I'm assuming they mean they will deliver it to you, but it will probably cost you.
The blank check gets Fed-Exed to you pretty quickly. E-Trade sent mine overnight. I can't remember how Capital One operates. It has been a few years since I dealt with them. They give you great instructions on what to do once you get the check. It's almost fool-proof. Most of the responsibility rests on the dealer. I just had to fill out the check, provide proof of insurance and a copy of my driver's license.
