Drivers side window stopped working
window has stopped working on the drivers side. when i push the button down i hear a clicking but nothing happens. the passenger side works fine.
This has happened to me me before about 6 months ago and started working by itself 2 days after it stopped.
What is your best guess to what my problem is?
my car is a 2002 cooper
thanks for any help you may offer.

Flick the switch up and down a few times. That fixes mine whenever it sticks.
There's also a way to reset it by holding it in the up or down position for awhile. I think it's down for 3-5 seconds (possibly while the car is off), but I don't know for sure.
There's other tips I've seen that suggest banging on the inside panel approximately where the outside handle is, while also holding the switch.

Mine started going out 3 years ago, everyone told me to change out the regulators. Not me, just give a good hit just above your door speaker while holding the window switch in the up or down position. It may take a couple of good stikes but this has worked for me every time. Chrunk is correct about the holding the switch in the up position for 3 seconds resets the auto dipping of the window when the door opens and closes. The rest needs to be done after window motor or regulator changes.
I hope this helps, good luck.

Uh, sounds like you might need a new motor. Try hitting the speaker and resetting the motor. If it's a no-go, you're motor is probably shot.

my passenger side has now started to only go down half way , sometimes if I give the door a hard close and hit the switch at the same time that gets it to go all the way. But the problem always comes back a few days later. Car has to go in for an oil change this week and I think I also may need a rear wheel bearing as I here some noise from back there, We shall see how much this costs

yea.. fuses are fine.. so lunch time comes, and I start banging on the spot above the speaker.. and toggling the switch at the same time.. after pointless fingers aiming at me and laughter from afar, my window goes down.. WTF? shouldn't they be recalling this kinda stuff if more than 100s of people are having the same issue!? (at least they're working now, but that's not the point.. point is, I have to bang on a door for an electronical device to work..)

What you need to do is take off your door panel. Toward the front of your door there will be your window motor. In front of the motor there will be the plug. Unplug that. Then find a long torx driver t15 or t20. Unscrew the 4 bolts surrounding the magnetic around the window motor. Pull down on the magnet and you'll see the window motor itself. The best way to reach the 4 torx screws is to take out the door speaker.
You will probably see where more contact has been made in certain places. What you want to do it take some emery paper or 120+ grit sand paper and little brush over the whole motor to reconnect contact. Re-install and test.
