Heyas peeps. Long time no post for me.

Question for ya'll... my club is collaborating with my dealership (Classic MINI) to have a Halloween road rally. We've invited 500 cars. What I'd like to know is what the largest meet/rally to date has been... I wanna try and beat it. Any ideas? I'm hoping for 170+ RSVPs. Thanks!

 

The last Flow MINI rally (in NC) had 104 cars. That'll at least give you a starting point.

 

I looked several sources and some old car rallys have had up to 100 cars and the Guiness Records don't have a category listed as largest car rally that I could find. Maybe you should contact them and set a new record with MINIs!!!

I think that if you can get maybe 150 cars of the same type that might be good. I did recently attend a Euro Car rally in my local area and about 80 of the cars were VWs mostly jettas, we had 5 MINIs there.

MINI Meets West and MINI Meets East usually have hundreds of MINI's on hand. Apart of the meet is doing a rally. They are the largest meets in North America. I say North America because both meets were held in Canada this year. Granted you have a mix of old and new but with more and more new MINI’s coming to the meets, it will be hard to beat.

The meet is July 2004 MINI East Meets West in Rockford Illinois. I suspect this one will be huge since it is in the middle of the country. I wish I were going but I'll be in Hawaii instead.

I know that there are very large events for Minis in the UK. In august there was a huge Mini outdoor show.
You might check with the folks over at Miniworld.co.uk if they know of any UK records already set. I would expect they have had some large rallys.

 

Two points....First, the Flow rally was just that, a rally. All the cars involved were MINIS. There was no meet in conjunction with this event. Just a bunch of happy people going on a drive. :smile:
Second, there's a vast difference between a meet and a rally as far as the numbers go. You'll generally have much larger numbers at a meet than a rally. However, a number of cars seen at the meets are trailered in and their owners would never think about going on a rally with them....especially the classic cars. I know of a few car meets drawing well over 700 cars (they estimated 900 at the big British car meet in New England last year).

 

My meet is a rally/meet combo. I may be able to make a record for a single-club event club rally/meet in the States. *shrug*
