Howdy,

I was wondering if anyone out there has installed XM Radio in your Minis, what kind of units did you get and where did you mount your units. Any pictures?

Thanks in Advance,
Ddraig ( My Mini arrives soon! I can't wait)

Duh almost forgot, how does it hook into the stock radio. Some models have tape player adapters and of course mini doesn't come with them. Can you plug them into some sort of AUX input?

Check out the audio forum lots of info there.

But in short, yes there are many that have the xm system installed. Seems that most are going for the Delphi unit, color matches the interior lighting. Most mounts are down between or on the cup holders. 2003 models have the aux input capability, $30 kit required, pre 2003 are using the Blitzsafe adapter hooked up to the CD wiring in the rear hatch area.

Oh, and welcome to the mix.

I am running Xm with an Alpine Radio and Satellite reciever. The colors do not match put the sound quality is great, much better than going through the stock radio (In my opinion).

There's a new Delphi XM unit out and it's called the Roady. It appears less expensive than the other Delphi unit. $119 at Best Buy. I'm curious about the Blitzsafe adapter hookup in the rear hatch area. Is this only in the case of those with multi-CD changers, or is that hookup in the rear hatch area for ALL pre-2003 MC models?

For all people interested in XM in the MINI, it appears that Blitzsafe is coming soon with an adaptor that will allow XM in BMW's and MINI's that as far as I can tell, allows full integration with the stock radio of the sat radio ready cars. Evidently, it will be a similar level of integration you would get with the Sirius but for XM. Check their forums for more info. http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_catal...z_catalog.html

I have the Delphi unit set up with the rf modulator and the control unit mounted to the right left of the center column near the steering wheel. It definitely limits the visibility for the driver, but it's convenient to access and not distracting.

I bought a Audiovox unit with Sirius XM. I chose this because it has a built in FM modulator. I mounted it over the cup holders. They never seem to hold a cup right anyway, so I don't mind loosing them. The panel doesn't light up orange but the sound is great and I like their music line up.

Just a clarification, Sirius IS NOT XM. While they are both satellite radio providers, they are independent companies whose equipment is NOT compatable with each other.

If you got the Audiovox unit you got Sirius, not XM....
