A\C Bogging down my motor?

Hey all, anyone else notice this on an R50?
Is it my imagination or does the A\C bog the motor down? It seems that when I am running it, the horse power declines and it takes more gas to launch the car, even just getting it moving normally.

Could this be an indication that the A\C unit is going bad? The cars an 06 with only 32,000 miles on it.

I live in Montana and we don't have a Mini dealer, Denver being the closest, and actually had it in to get its final free maintenance done last month while I was visiting a friend down there. Since it is such a trip to get to the dealer, I had them also do a full check on the car, from which they said nothing was wrong.

Any thoughts? Am I making something of nothing?

Cheers.

The A/C is an engine driven accessory, therefore it WILL rob your engine of power.
Nature of the beast.
It's more noticeable on smaller, less torquey engines. On large displacement engines (V8's etc.) you often times do not notice much of a power drain.

Thus, it IS normal.

One reason, I rarely if ever use the A/C in my MINI, decreases the fun by a fairly large percentage.

Thanks for the reassurance.
I have put more than half of the miles on this car, and am now just noticing this! lol Willing suspension of disbelief I suppose!

IT is not just the R50, the R53 also gets this pretty bad IMO.
