There are a ton of badly modded cars in England. I think it may have something to do with seasonal affect disorder and the amount of rain they get affecting their better judgement and taste.
I'm dreading the time when used minis are more affordable, and the ricer crowd starts getting hold of some. Egads.

On a seperate note, have you seen the Oracari (spelling?) body kit? The front bumper looks just like a honda.

Lower the front spoiler a bit and it becomes useful as a snowplow. Bonus would be that covered in snow it wouldnt look so bad.

To each his own.

Despite all our legitimate concerns about some of the poor taste seen in modding our rides, I think we should refrain from the term 'ricer' to describe the Japanese/ Asian heritage car and driver community. At the risk of sounding PC, it is insensitive and bigoted. What if we applied the same adjectives to drivers of other cars?
Do we call modded Ferrari owners "Meatballers"?
Or is it "Woppers", since Volvo may be the "Meatballers"?
Renault can be the "Froggers" (bashing the French is no longer acceptable since we need the help getting us out of the crap pile in Iraq).
How about the MINI mods? Some of them (by MCO members) are downright UGLY- How abour "Sausagers" since that will descibe both Germain and English (bangers)?
American car owners? you decide!! MacCars?, Redneckers, how about the "Inbreeders" for the NASCAR crowd?
What about all the ethnic groups that don't make cars? Should the Irish be ignored because they don't have the brains to make cars?
Just because a slur is widely used and 'acceptable', does not make it right. Before you flame me... ah go ahead, I made my point for the 2c its worth.

How about the former Yugoslavs? Remember the yugo? Sometimes you have to refer to a type to adequately describe a sentiment. I like the meatballers ref tho.

Drop it. This has been raised, you might have a leg to stand on if the term didn't come from the community it refers to. And they wear that moniker as a matter of pride.

In the street rodding community Ricer is not an insult. Context is everything, and in this case it's not used in an offensive manner.

That mini was posted a while back...and I agree I think when people use the word "ricer" for japanese cars in general its derogatory.

How's about we get back to the original topic....that's the first application of color-shifting paint I've seen on a MINI...it might (no, WOULD) look better without the body kit.

Have you ever owned a rice burner? Or a hog? Come on. Are those derogatory as well because most people who own harleys are overweight and hairy? I used to own a yamaha R1, and I was definitely not offended when someone called it that, or when they called me a rice rocket jocky. Extreme political over-correctness is one reason why people are so nervous in casual conversations today. Chill. I will retract my comment to make you happy...

I OFICIALLY retract the following comment

>>>>I'm dreading the time when used minis are more affordable, and the ricer crowd starts getting hold of some. Egads.

There. Are your convictions happy?

Why is it that every time a picture of a MINI with a body kit is displayed that the term "ricer" comes up? Whether ricer is intended to offend or is a term worn with pride let's just drop it and return to the discussion at hand...talking about MINIs being modded with body kits, color shifting paint, etc.

The BMW marketing dept should hunt that guy down an make him disappear in hopes that pictures of his ugly car will stop showing up everywhere.

Well it occurs to me that if that is a good example of what we don't want to see.
Please do send us your art and photoshop work of what you would like to see.
Either aerokits or otherwise that is done the "right way" in your opinion and good taste.

Most kits are trying to do something. For some people their idea of extreme is not enough and for others it is just too tame. So since those who make the kits seem to need a little help from real MINI owners then lets show them some
worthy designs and spend our energy in that directions.

By the way I don't think that design has too much risk of being super in demand in the US anytime soon.
Please show us your stuff!!

As minihune put it so well; "I don't think that design has too much risk of being super in demand in the US anytime soon."

Ah yes, the Darwin factor, and I agree. Natural selection will take care of this nonsense.

Maybe the topic of "ricer" keeps resurfacing because it IS offensive to some. I was told to "get over it" previously. Now those who bring it up are "PC cops". Once again, those are ways of shuting down honest concerns. As mentioned before, when I was growing up big Caddies with mods were said to be "jig". So lets just get over it, quit being so PC, and use that word too. Too bad such serious stuff needs to sometimes get injected on this site, but some thing merit reflection. That said, I honestly say this with respect. I don't think anyone writing means harm. We just see things differently due to our own life experiences.

As far as this Mini, I wish I had as much confidence in Darwin. I can still hope, though, it might eventually get towed away for indecent exposure; not only for the overall obscenity of the mods, but because it looks like it's butt is a bit too exposed.
