Two weeks ago, when I first heard that Minis were over here already, I put in an order for a Mini Cooper S which will not be available for up to a year!?
I am not good at being patient!

This morning I called another dealership, Herb Chambers (Boston), on a whim. They said "if you are not choosy, we have a couple on cars"!
So I drove down immediately!

They had a white Mini Cooper with CVT in the showroom; no miles on it.
And they had a black manual Mini Cooper being used for demo drives. They must have had it only days because it had only 92 miles on it!
And it was loaded with all three combo packs - looked and drove excellent.

So I said "yes" (just beating another person on the phone).

They sold it to me WITH NO MARKUPS (unless you count the already installed Lojack and paint protection); and they have me a great 6% finance rate.

And I get to pick it up next weekend (could have been earlier if I could have got a bankers check)!

Am I lucky or what?!
Thanks Harb Chambers. Thanks Ed Hanson. Thanks Rick Lawrence.
Sorry everyone else!

Look out for pictures when I bring it home

PS:
They also told me that manufacturing has run out of Xenon headlight units and British Racing Green paint.

Ian, Congratulations! You are a lucky fellow!!! I've had my MINI for 2 weeks and I can't drive it enough.

I also heard about the Xenon headlights causing delays.

They aren't actually out of Xenon headlamps. It goes like this... if you are just specing a MINI now or in the past couple of weeks... yes, the lights are delayed till August. But if you already specced it out a while back like myself and have a production date set, you are most likely getting the lights still. I have a June 28 build date and the lights will be on the car for example.

Just drove my new Mini Cooper home - put 40 easy miles on it; great fun squeezing out of Boston commuter traffic.

I will admit it is not as luxurious (or big) as my Lexus RX-300 - where is the armrest!
But it is so much more fun to drive - and cuter too

The only question now is - will I cancel my Cooper S order?

Maybe he will be so into his new MINI that he will develop a revolutionary circuit that will make American MINIs function like they do in Europe...nah.

Ian's on MINI #3 now... The Cooper didn't last long before the blue MCS arrived, which has now been replaced by a red MCS.
