So... finally buying a MINI!

Here are a couple of crappy pics from the carsoup ad...

It's for my wife not me... but that's OK, I'll get to drive it a fair bit myself and it'll be a relief for me to know she's driving a fun, reliable nimble little car. The details:

2005 R30
Leather, heated seats, premium stereo package, dual panoramic roofs, HID lights, all the standard options, 91k miles, clean 2 owner carfax and they're only asking $10,777 for it. I was suspicious at first, but took it to get checked out and it's clean as a whistle! Even the notorious rust under the door sill wasn't there (thanks guys for having the "what to look for when buying used" threads) it is leaking a tiny bit of oil around the VC gasket and the oil pan gasket so I told them those must be replaced before we buy it... but we should be signing the paperwork tonight after work. I'll post up some decent pictures of it when we get it home and I can pull out the D40

Wow what a nice R50! Here's to many miles of fun! As for the mileage I put 128k on my '03 R50 in two years with no problems.

Thanks guys! I'm not wild about the mileage and I would have preferred cloth seats but everything else about it is perfect. Now to convince the wife that I need an S :D

That sounds like a pretty high price. I have a 2003 R50 with 29,000 miles and I was asking 10,000 for it. I decided to keep it for now though because I was getting way too many low ***** for it.

Buying from a private seller will always be cheaper than buying from a dealership... but holy ****, you should have been able to trade your mini in for 10k with that low of miles... FYI your 2003 and my 2005 have more or less the same book value. Where did you have the car listed?

I just had it up on Craigslist. I had a ton of tire kickers and only one serious buyer who tried to get it from me for $8800. For that price I decided just to keep it. I have the regular Cooper and I wanted a car with a little more power but I realized that any other car is not as sexy as my Mini

Edit: My Mini is at 29,865 miles today. Excited to hit that 30,000 milestone :D

Good for you for keeping it... I would have bought it from you for 10k though. Selling a car is an exercise in extreme patience.

Oh, and it's been raining/crappy weather here for the last few days so I haven't been able to get any decent pics of the mini yet. Hopefully this weekend or something...

OK, so here are the pics... I only took a couple because I was on the way to pick up my boy from preschool.

With a little fish eye for the "speedy" effect I bumped up the contrast quite a bit so he wouldn't look so dirty my wife has named him "Panda" of course due to the black and white coloring.

Fantastic! Congratulations to both of you. Sounds like your wife better hide the keys if she wants to drive it...
