My brother was inside my MINI S on the right side (passenger side)with the engine started on neutral gear when I went to pick things inside the house, the street is completely flat, and when I went out my car was going at maybe 2 km/h, let me tell you that my brother is 32 years old, and I figure that maybe took the brake off or something I said how are you moving he said I just press a little the shiffting gear, just a little, I said you are crazy is standard he told me yes I know but look, I got inside the car and I did it I press just smooth the shifting **** as I was trying to go on first gear, not getting to put the gear and the car is moving.

How about that. strench things happens.

can someone explain to me.

Sorry for my english.

your friend Ricardo

It is possible to get the car moving by pushing the shift lever towards first gear. The syncronizers in the transmission act as small clutches to help engage the gears. Good syncros can actually make the car move in this fashion, but doing this is very hard on them, they were never designed to move the car, but instead they adjust the disengaged clutch speed to the gear speed being selected.
