Fog Lights Won't turn on
I recently bought a 2003 MC with the Sport Premium package. I love the car but i can't get the fog lights to turn on. Is it the button to the left of the steering column? when I press the button a green light illuminates on the button but no joy with the the fog lights coming on. Anyone have any ideas?
I have the round fog light that are mounted in front of the grill.

Minicoopewill - You may be right about them being running lights. Another thing that I noticed is when I turn the lights on there is a bright flash and then they turn to normal. I guess I need to get my wife out in the garage to do some testing with all the different switches. Learning how all the switches on these Mine Coopers work has been an adventure. Thanks for the reply.

1. Semantics...the factory lights mounted on the grill are DRIVING LIGHTS.
2. Factory Driving Lights are wired, according to the factory specs, to only come on with the regular high beams. This is US law so far as I know and some states are said to check this but I can't confirm that. It is possible (easy) to by-pass this restriction. But I digress ....
3. The factory DRIVING lights use a switch that goes in the panel near your left knee. You push the switch to activate at which time it should illuminate and then the driving lights should come on with the high beams of the regular headlights. Or if HB is on and you hit the button they should come on immediately. Once HB goes off, so should the driving lights. IF WIRED TO THE FACTORY SPEC.
4. If the driving lights won't come on but the button illuminates and everything else works right, I'd check the fuse for the lights. As an add-on they have their own power fuse. IF installed according to the factory instructions you should find a smalll 'blade' type fuse holder in the recess just to the left of the right side bonnet hinge (looking from the front). They get their power from a wire attached to the main power feed of the under bonnet fuse panel on the right side of the engine bay, near the air box. Look for a wire added on the top of the main power feed there, and trace it back.
5. For reference here's the factory kit install instructions

6. I've installed these for a number of folks over the years .... my price can't be beat. Listen to my B.S. as I do the work in my garage. Then go out for a Guiness!

I do realize I'm resurrecting a thread from 2009.
I can't get my driving lights to turn on either. They appear to be factory-installed, or at least in that method. My fuse is good. The red wire leaving the fuse box is hot, but I have zero voltage at the lights, and I also do not get the green LED at the switch.
How can I go about troubleshooting the four wires going into the switch?

Confirmed, with highbeams on.
I have spent all morning, trying to figure out why the Driving lights would not turn on. I checked the bulbs, and was trying to find the fuse in the foot well when I found this thread.
"Only turned on with High Beams" !!!!!
Correct! But what overkill! High Beams AND Driving lights!
Given that I have Xenon headlights, you have to be in a pretty isolated area to be able to use High Beams AND Driving lights at the same time!
...thanks for solving my "problem". Now I can get on with my day!
.... Andrew
