Well the Jingu Maru is heading into New York today but offshore it's blowing Up to 60 knots with 15 foot seas. As a sailor who has raced to Bermuda several times in the same waters I can tell you that that's rough weather!

I hope our babies are well strapped in

Heres the forecast:

STORM WARNING

THIS AFTERNOON
SW WINDS 30 TO 40 KT BECOMING W AND INCREASING
TO 40 TO 55 KT LATE IN THE DAY. SEAS 10 TO 15 FT BUILDING TO 14 TO
27 FT...HIGHEST E OF 70W. RAIN FOG AND
SCATTERED TSTMS OCCASIONALLY REDUCING VSBY BELOW 1 NM.

They will be OK. I have been at sea and everything is strapped down so nothing can move. They may be delayed getting into port because of it but I wouldn't be worried about damage.

Earl

Those who say money can't buy happeness just haven't shopped at their Mini dealer.

I'm sure they will be fine. I just got back from sailing in the carribean and we got caught in a Tropical storm with no warning. we got hit with 40 knot winds on our 50ft sailboat while under full sail. Our boat went horizontal until we goat the wind spilled and got the sails back in. I must say 40knt wind with rain hurts. If it wasn't for my adrenaline I surly would have shat my pants.

then we made it to St Barts. saw some mini's there and alot of mini moke's. they also had alot of smart car's which were kind of cool and micro compared to the mini.

Ugh...I really hope this doesn't create another delay. I wonder when she's supposed to get into port anyway. The WW site has her leaving again today. Anybody know how long it takes to unload these ships?

Gee, I hope they don't get seasick and puke antifreeze everywhere. Maybe that will make my MINI more appreciative of the super-flat roads here in Houston.

Well, according to the W&W site, the Jingu Maru has been into port in New York, and sailed on toward Charleston. My car is not listed as discharged yet, but I can only assume that it's just a delay in updating the tracking system.

I happen to know for a fact that they are not strapped down. According to my 03 MCS, as soon as they were out about 40 km they ripped off the straps and began to party. The bar was open, music was provided by all the h/k's on board (festival setting, please). So hold your breath!

I live very close to the Chesapeake Bay and see car carriers on their way to Baltimore all the time. Those things are huge and sturdily built....I think your baby and everyone else's will be ok. I'm sure everything's battened down.

BTW, welcome to NAM

Not to scare you all that are waiting but the local TV station reported and showed a bunch of large 40' containers floating in the ocean that were blown of the deck aof a container ship. I know the MINI is not in a container but its pretty rough out there right now.

You can forget the owners lounge for tracking your MINI. Here is a leter in responce to me asking why I was still showing "En Route". My boat docked 11-4.

Hi James, thanks for writing MINI.

Sounds like your baby is going to be with you soon. I apologize, but
the last step we can see in our tracking system is when the car is at
the port of exit in England. If you contact your motoring advisor at
your MINI dealer, he or she will be able to assist you in further tracking
your baby’s progress. If there are further questions that I can assist
you with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail.

Actually, there might be (or have been) 472 MINIs on the
Jingu Maru. If you track using the Bill of Lading Number (GB143931),
there are 472 entries with VINs like WMWRE* and WMWRC*, and
multiple Booking Numbers.

I just hope none of the kids,er MINIs, on the ship don't get sea sick with the rough weather! - with a bar on every level, 24 hour food buffets and Discos, those cruise ships are a great place to eat too much and drink too much. Add a storm and you will have some pretty sick MINIs!!! :wink

and JustGo4it! -- you are so correct! You can forget the Owners Lounge unless you want to check it every 2 weeks to see how it's going. My MINI was always about 4-6 days ahead of what the Owners Lounge said. When the Lounge said I was produced, he was being loaded on the ship! when it showed he was waiting transportation and he'd sailed on the Jingu Maru and was 4 days out to sea! It never showed him on the truck to the dealer. One day he was on the ship and then a long pause, with no change and then it showed I'd picked him up.... but funny, that was a week before I did pick him up, because of all my after factory accessories my dealer added.

Better hope all your MINIs know how to find the leeward side of the ship. Otherwise, you should plan on a big detailing party when it docks...
