R50/53 Do you still wave...

Try waving & smiling after the honk. Some people only use the horn in anger, so they probably just misunderstood.
On a side-note, I just got back from the Caribbean. Drivers there use the horn a lot. They use it to say Hi twice as often as to warn and as I can tell rarely in anger. I've adopted the practice, though it's sadly lost on many. I looked all week and finally spotted a MINI. I think it must have been bought through the BMW dealer.

MINIs are rare in this area too. I regularly see a blue MC, we wave (actually I wave, he gives the peace sign)...a lady in a black MCS waves, but the other day I saw a teenage girl in a red MC, no response at all. It seems to be just the attitude....as if her parents just bought her this "cute little car" that she doesn't really understand...the type of young girl you usually see cruisin in her V6 Mustang.

I have to agree with the men...
I'm a woman (last time I checked), and I motor in my Black/Black MC and 90% of the drivers that wave back or acknowledge you in any way are men. I was just telling my husband a few days ago that the female MINI drivers are so into what they are doing (or themselves) that they don't wave.
I wave and I'm proud! When I part company with another MINI on the road, I turn on my rear wiper to say goodbye.
Come on people... it take half a sec to give a thumbs up, peace sign...somethin'... don't leave your fellow motorers hangin'.
LOLO

I am just glad it isn't just me that recognizes this!

I pay attention, and wave or flash lights. I'm a female, and I drive very well! Sometimes it seems that the traffic flow isn't conducive to a close enough encounter. I think it might also be that there aren't that many in my city, or they must be havin' fun in the twisties and not in town.

Aww, i was just out in NJ for a month. If i had seen you i would have definitely waved. I got more waves in NJ than i ever got in Ohio. I also drove across the entire state of PA TWICE without seeing a single mini.
