I have had this rattle since i bought my car a year and a half ago! Since i took out my rear seats its been a real PITA so i had my girlfriend climb in the back, while driving, while parked and me shaking the car, EVERYTHING! and she kept saying "i think its the latch?"
Thank you for this solution

There are 2 bolts 10mm I think that can move the latch mechanism in or out to control the closing depth of the hatch door. Adjust the rubber bumpers in all the way, adjust the latch mechanism and fine tune the closing pressure and the seam/gap of the hatch door to the rear quarter panel/tail light area. I had to do this on mine, problem solved.

My rear rattle was caused by a loose metal anchor inside the small boot cover, not the latch!
I fixed it using an Xacto-Knife and a hot-glue gun. I ran the knife all through the length of the metal rod that sits underneath the cover (seems to be there to provide extra strength in case you put something heavy on top of it). After that I "peeled" the cloth to reveal a metal rod. That's when I noticed that the middle anchor came loose. That was making lots of rattling noise, just pry it off and proceeded to hot-glue the cloth back in place.
No more rattles!
P.S.- Sorry, forgot to take pics of the procedure... :/
Cheers!

Here's my Mini squeak pita.
It would only happen when I let the clutch out and the rev's dropped a little. Then a few squeaks would be heard. Get this it ended up being the rear head liner and my radio antenna wire slip joint as it goes into the antenna. If I moved the wire up or down it would squeak. A little silicone and it's done.
